Hi,

I have been smoking for 30 year. I have managed to cut down to about 5 cigarettes a day, but just can't stop altogether. I am really hoping that vaping can replace this last bit of addiction. I have ordered an itaste SVD starter kit (comes with 2 iclear 30), and an iclear x.1. There is a new local vape shop close by, and I thought I would go local to try out ejuice until I find something I like. I still can't figure out what nicotine levels to start with, but will just do the old trial and error thing, and see what happens. DIY mixing sounds like a lot of fun, but I will hold off a while before jumping in the deep end.

Hey John,

I recently quit smoking by vaping. I was a pack a day smoker for around 17 years. I am using 18mg liquids. My advice is to just keep an open mind whatever liquids you find in a vape shop. Some shops carry some pretty decent liquids, others carry stuff that tastes like ... well, it doesn't taste very good. Just check with the vape shops in your area, they may have a vape bar where you can tast liquids before you buy them.

Welcome. You're just down the road from me. I had you beat by about 12 years on the smoking. Been vaping for 4. I also DIY juices. If interested would be happy to help. There is a vape shop in Herndon I went to last weekend that has a very large variety of juices and and tanks with samples to try with your mod and drip tip. PM me if you want more information.

Hey John,

I'm in Centreville. Purely Vapor right on 28 in Manassas sells Mt Baker juices and has all of them available to sample. Good staff - nice people and pretty knowledgeable. If you want to haul all the way out to Leesburg, I've heard really good things about Vapor Studio, and it looks like they have a good selection of more high end juices - Five Pawns and that sort of thing. I haven't gotten out there yet, but it's on my to do list.

Welcome to the boards!

Back to your original question on nicotine levels. I started at 18mg and within 2 weeks was down to 12 mg. I mostly vape 12mg but also have some 6mg that I use with my lower ohm, higher wattage vapes. I think if you start at 18 you'll be less likely to want to think about having a smoke. On the pg/vg ratio, I'm really liking a 50/50 pg/vg blend more than the higher pg juices. Less throat hit but better clouds.

Man, I totally missed that part. I'm with Scooter - I was a pack a day smoker (just over, maybe 22 or 23 a day) for 18 years and I vape 12mg in clearos (Aspire Nautilus, Kanger Aerotanks and Protanks) and 6 in rebuildables (Kayfun Lite + and Igo-W4).

Your body will tell you when you've got the wrong levels. You'll get headaches and feel jittery if you're too high, and if you're too low, you'll crave cigarettes.

Hey there,

greetings from Germany. I stopped smoking 9 months ago after nearly 30 years. And i used the same setting as you. SVD and iClear.
Inbetween i learned a lot and never smoked only one cigarette again. So i wish you all the best and don't hasitate to ask here for help. You always get good answers.

Just got back from Purely Vapor (Manassas, Va, B&M). Really nice folks, they've got samples of all their flavors to try right on the spot. I guess you could call it a vape bar, but they only have 3 or 4 stools at their bar. I was looking for a light tobacco and they recommended RY4, which I liked a lot. Their only 10 minutes away, so I have a feeling I may be there a lot.

Hey, John. I very recently quit myself after 20-22 a day for 32 years. I started with 18's, quickly moved down to 12 (only because the 18's were feeling a bit harsh) and at that point I bought a mod, so got some zero, six, and even a three for use in the mod. Like u, I also vape a LOT more than I smoked, so having some low nic juices around has been really helpful. Sometimes I get a tad jittery, but still want to vape, so I can just put one batt down and grab one with a zero tank on it. On the flip side, I do still need the 18's if I am having a really strong craving. They are already a bit harsh for me, but a couple three or four good puffs on an 18 and the craving goes away. Then back to whatever flavor/nic level I feel like grabbing.

Keep on keepin' on, man!
