Well, just found out my friend has been ripping me off. He runes a vape store and I thought he had the best prices around...I just left the most popular vape store in my area and found out he's been charging me 2 dollars more than most places do for my coils, and that for my 110 bucks I could have gotten something a lot better than the 30w istick and the melo..kinda blows :( ..well, now that I know I can get stuff a little cheaper its time to upgrade..

Sorry to hear that, friends and business usually works out badly.

Look on the bright side though, many people will spend $80-100 on their first kit and get something absolutely useless like a Blu kit etc, at least you got something that's actually decent/serviceable.

You've found ECF, and some of the best deal finders around, so any over-paying you do for items is solely on you now!;)

Best of luck!

10 watts for a 0.5Ω coil, seriously? My device only fires for 10 seconds, I'd never get the coil hot enough to produce vapor at 10 watts... just tried, 8 second hit, next to nothing
No, I vape with a 0.6 ohm resistance on my mechanical mod. That's about 30 watts. About a 3 second draw, direct lung hit.

I use a 1.5 ohm resistance on my regulated mod and only need 10 watts for a similar vape. About a 4 second draw, mouth to lung hit.

Using 28 gauge kanthal in both of the above juice delivery devices. Maybe you're using too heavy a gauge of wire or your building too low of a resistance.

So I got the subtank mini..any good guides on building the coils? I want to build it to produce as much as possible

No matter how you build it you can't get the vapor of other tanks with pre built coils. It has good flavor though. Now you can modify it and get pretty good vapor production. Don't know how to link it but check out a member named Wilson Phillips. He nailed it

I'm confused. I can't get the vapor of tanks with pre built coils? If I use the rba shouldn't I be able to get more vapor production than using my melo tank? All I'm aiming to do is get a little better flavor and not burn my coils up so fast. I've eliminated that by getting something I can build coils on so I'm really hoping I get a little better flavor and cloud. I know I know, I want it all lol

Well I wasn't really talking about the Melo. Sorry I thought I was commentating on another thread. But the Subtank Mini isn't good at vapor production no. Some people will disagree but it's only because they don't have the newer tanks. I still love the Mini for what it's built for,. Search threads lots of people can't build without dry hits . On those threads will possibility be the best place to find solutions and good builds. Wicking is key with that tank

Ahh. Well, what tank would you recommend? I haven't opened it yet. They may would swap it out. In the stores they really gear the conversation towards a sale instead of satisfying the customer with what's best for them.

Well first let me say a LOT of people seem to love the Mini. Lot of them rebuild the occ coils and some use the RBA. I think it's easier to rebuild the occ just because it's easier to wick those than the rba. The rba makes the airflow a bit tighter which hurts vapor production. Are you wanting to build coils or just buy them?

I'd prefer to build them but I don't want to kill my vapor production by using the tank. The guy at the store assured me that I wouldn't loose any vapor production switching from the melo to this tank

Sorry I just saw this alert. For RTAs I love the Goliath. It's built for higher watts. But I mostly use a Herakles and Starre. They have pre built coils but really produce a lot of flavor and vapor. They can handle 100 watts but I'm usually hovering around 60 to 75 tops for my taste. A lot of options out there today. In its day the Mini was second to none though. Lot of people never upgrade and are happy with Minis . I just like a bit more vapor

After hooking up the rba and throwing in some thick juice (vapetrix <3) I'm honestly satisfied. I can tell its holding back on the vapor production but the flavor is soooo awesome. For some reason using the rba I haven't gotten any hot hits either. Those over the top warm hits are so nasty to me lol. Now I just gotta get this hole drilled out for extra airflow. Its amazing what you learn in a few days

Did you see what I was talking about with Wilson Phillips? I was working on doing one but I got sidetracked. I have some bad luck past week. Even with the factory coils i've never had a problem with max vg. I'm just so use to more airflow. I haven't used one in awhile except using nickel coils they came out with. I borrowed a friends Vapor Flask

I haven't looked it up yet..I've actually messed the rba deck up. Somehow the sleeve got turn to tight and I bent it trying to grab it with pliers. It goes back on crooked now. It still vapes fine but I can't get the sleeve off the rba deck to change the coil or wick. Its a cheap fix but I'm out of town and there aren't any local. I have a 1.2 stock coil but I'm sure I'll burn that up in a day lol

if you're getting a burnt flavor that means a few things.

1. Your coil is gunky and needs a change, most coil heads should last you about a week or longer if you aren't using dark juices
2. you need to increase your airflow, crank that afc wide open.
3. if you dont like doing lung hits step the voltage/wattage down.
4. You didn't let your new coil head soak for long enough before vaping and have already singed the wicking material (same solution as #1 ;))
5. Your coil has a hot spot and needs a tad bit of adjustment (usually only applies to RDAs/RBAs but i have had some pretty crappy factory coil heads in the past for my atlantis.)

Hope this helps, that's all the things i could think of off the top of my head.

Everyone please don't refer to the vapor as "smoke " on this forum or anywhere else. We are trying to separate vaping from smoking because it's two very different things. Especially as we face possible regulation. They are trying to lump vaping together with tobacco products. We need to make sure we don't help them. Thank you. And I hope you don't take my post wrong. I'm just looking out for the industry I love
