Hi, I'm a new member here and also new to vaping. I started smoking as a teenager and I have smoked off an on most of my life since then. I was able to stop with each of my pregnancies, but each time after a couple of years I started back. I didn't really consider myself a serious smoker until the last 5 years. Before, I mostly smoked "socially" and bummed from friends, family, and coworkers, but a few years ago, my job became very stressful and I quickly became a PAD smoker. Good or bad, my job allows me a lot of freedom to smoke but I don't smoke at home (unless all of my family are gone!). I've tried to hide my habit from the kids and it's become harder and harder to do so (I know they can smell the smoke on me). I've thought about quitting before (tried the patch once with little success) but the truth is that I really like smoking. However, this past summer, my mother (a 3 PAD smoker for 40 years) had a very serious cancer scare. Turned out the cancer was a genetic type, not related to smoking, but it really make me start worrying about my own habit.

Last week a coworker of mine bought a Blu disposable and let me try it. I was pretty impressed! Honestly, my main thought was that I could smoke and my children wouldn't smell anything! This week, I decided to buy my own Blu starter kit. I did a little reading before, but pretty much ignored the posts by people saying not to waste your money on the convenience store kits. I thought to myself that my coworker's Blu was pretty good, and I might even be able to cut down on the analogs with just that. Plus, everything else seemed so overwhelming. I just didn't think I could figure it all out!

Anyway, bought the Blu starter kit on Tuesday of this week. Managed to cut down my analog use to half a pack a day for Tuesday and Wednesday, but I continued reading on this forum. I decided I needed something better, so I visited a local store I found out about on this forum. So glad I did! The guy in the store was so great and full of information. I decided on an 1100 mah eGO C twist (I know now that it is not a Joyetech but oh well!). He put it together for me and added some menthol juice and told me to try it. I couldn't believe the difference in it and the Blu. Like night and day as several people on this forum had posted. I smoked 7 analogs that day.

The next day I went back to the store and bought an eRoll! Got down to 5 analogs yesterday and heading that way today. I wish I could be like others and just toss them right away. However, I think it is better not to pressure myself about it yet. The guy in the store recommended that I stick with just the one juice until I kicked the analog habit, but I ordered some Halo liquids and a Villiain Vaper today! Can't wait for those to get here.

I want to say thank you to everyone on this forum for all the helpful advice and encouragement I have read here in just a short time. Without this forum, I wouldn't have even known all of this was possible and I sure wouldn't have had any idea of how to get started. I'm looking forward to a successful transition from analog to vaping, and it feels good to know that this forum is here whenever I run into trouble or need advice.

Congratulations and welcome to ECF.

I didn't drop cigarettes the minute I picked up an e-cig either. But it didn't take too long, and now I am over a year cigarette free. Don't sweat it, like you said no pressure. I am not so sure about the advice to only have one flavor though. I was constantly trying new flavors and loved that aspect of it. I really think it helped me stop the cigarettes because if I tired of one flavor, I wasn't "stuck" with it and could just change up my flavor instead of lighting up for variety.

Just remember we are all individuals and need different things!

eta: Oh, and remember that every cigarette NOT smoked is a victory!

Thanks all for the encougement. I'm definitely ready to try different flavors. Today I ordered menthol ice, sub zero, tribecta, prime 15, belgian cocoa, and bonnie and clyde. Now I just need to learn more about steeping!

I also ordered additional cartridges for my eroll and some extra clearomizers for trying the new liquids.

Please ignore any typos. I'm posting on my phone!
