Hi, I'm looking to purchase a ecig setup for my friend's birthday to help him get off the cigarettes (about a pack-a-day smoker). I'm a little overwhelmed with the selection out there, and I have always been one to throughly research any purchases, especially one that will hopefully be used daily. I was hoping I could find some guidance here. Not sure what I should even budget, but I definitely want to get him a quality piece he can rely on, and also some juice and whatever else he needs vape for a good while. Thanks in advance!

p.s. explain like I'm 5 please, zero experience with ecigs personally..:p

for a first timer to grow into it i would suggest from my experience (2 months quit now) get an ego twist and a evod, go to your local brick and mortar and make sure its genuine equipment, do not get any juice with alcohol used in the brewing process. everything else is icing on the cake that he should discover and decide for himself, also too much complication could drive him away from quitting at first.

I'd also suggest the evod starter kit. They're really simple to use, so more likely he will use it instead of smoking!

Aside from that, all he would need is some eliquid. If he's smoking a pack a day he's likely to need 12-18mg/ml nicotine. I would a few samples in a variety of strengths and flavours (and brands if possible) as it's so hard to predict what he might like. Once he's found the right strengths and flavours, he can buy better value larger bottles. But there is going to be some trial and error in the beginning, and some of it will end up in the bin.

As a relative newcomer to vaping, I would recommend the Kanger Evod starter kit.
I have tried 3 or 4 different variations and the evod has been the most trouble free. There are few things that make you want a cigarette more than faulty vaping equipment. It is a also great to have 2 batteries and clearomisers.
I found my starter kit online for less than $40.
It is wonderful that you are helping your friend.
Good luck!
