Hey guys, so I have decided to jump onto vaping after many friends have suggested it.

So I have just bought the smok al85 but I'm not sure if I am doing it right. I have it at 30W as I'm used to smoking my friends at around 50 but he doesn't have nicotine in his. I've noticed the top of my mouth at the back is tingling. I presume this is the nicotine.

Is the only way to reduce this by going to a lower amount of nicotine? I only have 6mg in mine.

Also, what is the best way to maximize the flavour?

Thanks in advance :)

Welcome to the world of vaping.
I assume you have the al85 kit and hence the baby beast tank along with. If yes then there must be 2 coils in the kit.
Which coil are you using? There are 2 of them 0.4 and 0.6 ohms.
Usually vaping at lower wattage will give you less of a nicotine hit because the vapor is relatively cooler and doesn't get mixed with the blood stream as fast.
And the 0.6 ohm coil works at lower wattages compared to the other 0.4 ohm coil.
Give that a try if you aren't already vaping on it.

Welcome!
6 mg at 30w is a decent hit. I would happily vape that.
Power and flavour are not always directly linked, the tank & coil & airflow combination takes some experimentation.
If you are quitting smoking, dropping to 3mg could be less satisfactory. There's no hard and fast rules.

I quit on 18mg at 8w then graduated to 12mg at 12w
6mg at 30w should match those yeilds.

That would make sense. I'm currently using the one that was already in it which is the 0.4ohm coil

I did the same thing when i got mine. And i felt like it might be a little too much to handle in the beginning. Try the 0.6 ohm... I think you'll feel much better in the beginning vaping on that coil.

Won't the coil be wasted though as it's already primed? I'm sorry, that might seem like a silly questions. Is it easy to remove the coil?

There are no silly questions :)
We all learn.
And no it won't be "spoilt".
Just make sure the liquid in the tank currently is almost empty. Then take out this coil. Prime the other one and put it in.
Then take the 0.4 coil and put it under high pressure running water from a tap, then blow through the wholes of the coil to push the water out.
Let it dry and use it later. I've done this with my coils and seems to clean them up of most of the gunk.

Do you think the coils I posted above will be too strong?
To be honest, if you're just getting into vaping then yes it could be too strong a hit but that doesn't mean you have to throw them away.
You might love those after you're a little used to vaping.

First get comfortable with the 0.6 and the 0.4... They'll last about 2 or 3 weeks total depending upon how much you vape. Then you'll have a better understanding of which coil you like and what wattage you prefer to vape at. And then you can buy new ones accordingly. Don't rush into buying new ones without knowing what you like.
You might like the 0.15 better than the other two. This stuff can be very subjective. So try the ones you have for a week each. Then decide what you like.

What device did your friend have? The one you say you vaped at 50w?

He has the Smok Alien Kit.

That's a bit of a pain :( I will have to wait until pay day until I try some new one's out.
Don't get disheartened... As i mentioned, your coils will last you about 2 weeks each and by then you'll have experience and a better understanding of resistance and wattage.
There are not a lot of other good coils... These three are the top used coils for the baby beast i think.
And you have all 3 to try out. So no need to buy new ones for at least a month.
Also you've made a good decision to switch to vaping from smoking(assuming you smoked).
Vaping saves you tons of money in the long run and the flavors are just to die for. :)
The stinkies suck **** when compared to vaping. You'll have a great time :)

Thank you, I will try each one out and see which is the best for me. Thanks for all your help :)

I did used to smoke but I'm trying to come off completely. When I go cold turkey I always get irritable so I'm hoping this will sort that problem out.

The problem I'm facing is that the 5 Pack SMOK TFV8 Baby Coils have 5 different resistances

"This pack of 5 replacement coils is packaged for use with the smaller, 22mm TFV8 Baby tank from SMOK or the slightly larger 24.5mm Smok TFV8 Big Baby Tank. Please select one of the 3 available coil types from the options listed below or click on this link for Smok TFV8 Baby RBA Kit "

Quoted from the webpage you linked. They only have 3 coils available.
What other ones can you find?
