Hello all!
I am a retired analog smoker (last analog 08/01/2013) Yes, I know, it is not even a month. BUT I was a pack-a-day smoker for 25 years and other than during a coma one time have NEVER been able to quit. I originally tried e-cigs in 2010. I live in Chicago and my husband (also a retired analog smoker) and I were at a neighborhood street fair where we encountered a booth called "hot vapes" and tried our first e-cig. These were the little cigarette looking models. We are all about shopping locally, so we decided to give "Hot Vapes" a try. I tried switching over to e-cigs, but never really felt my cravings satisfied and eventually gave up and went back to analogs. We switched in 2010 to American Spirit analogs and were able to cut down as low as 3 packs a week (some weeks) but more like 4-5 packs most weeks. During the summer of 2012, I used both for a bit when I was working at a place that did not allow for cigarette breaks (you couldn't go outside). I really got fed up with my inability to breathe. Turns out, breathing freely is fairly essential to health and well-being. I also stopped liking the taste years ago, and developed a Mountain Dew habit to eradicate the taste of cigarettes from my mouth - now I have a whole other set of problems! When I had finally had enough, I asked my husband (who, as a science teacher, loves to research the bejezus out of things) to look into a better quality vaporizer and the cleanest e-liquid available. We found another local vendor Modern Vapor we decided to try. On August first I started the day with 4 analogs. I smoked the last one at 11:30 AM. I went through the rest of the workday without cigarettes of any kind. By 6:00 when we reached Modern Vapor I was on the verge of an all-out nicotine fit. I remember watching the sales guy draw on his vape while we spoke thinking: "Givemethatgivemethatgivemethat." We decided to go with the Lux battery and what I have since learned from this forum is a clone of the vivi nova clearomizer. All I can say is that the few sample hits I took began to immediately calm my craving, and the taste (RY4) was AMAZING! I have since been analog free and have no desire to go back. Although I am dealing with some cravings at the moment because local shops close early on Sunday and we bought an untried liquid from the nearest place we could get it and it is HORRIBLE. I am (not so) patiently waiting until noon to go to a new shop I found with artisan liquid makers called "Smoque Chicago" (See what they did there?). My husband (Eddie, for future reference, much faster to type) sticks mainly to the plain tobacco flavor, but I like anything but, since I hated the taste of cigarettes anyway. Until I came to this forum, I did not realize RY4 was tobacco based. Excited to go try out the artisans at Smoque. Anyway, that's my story. Sorry for writing a book. I should have split this up into 5 posts! LOL
