I'm not entirely sure what kind of Goverment the US has, anymore, really.
My main beef (apart from lobbyists), is that the checks and balances system (while it was a great idea) just makes it impossible to get anything done, ever, it sometimes seems like, though I have finally naturalized since I can keep my secondary citizenship, I really want to be able to flee to AUS if necessary, with my family, LOL. I've watched Congress in action and even appeared as an "expert" (kid stuff, CPS stuff, MH stuff, and what they were doing W/R/T funding0 and it's disturbing. I remember talking and watching the aides and the Senators just pay *absolutely no attention* to what I said, and it was disturbing.... You work SO FEW days a year and this is your "work ethic"? Also, we're a democracy except that we aren't and twice recently the popular vote was messed up? (Though, I adored neither Gore nor Hillary, I just don't get how the ELECTORAL college, basically politicians, is supposedly a "representative democracy" in even name only.
That also being said, I love so many things about the US, and I *don't* believe I'd want to be anywhere else at this point, nor do I think any kind of socialized approach is going to work either, and I've watched the Brits in Parliament, they are MORE entertaning, honestly, sometimes it comes to blows.
I just want-- term limits (more of them) reasonable campaign contributions, and the total extermination of all lobbyists who are doing it *professionally*. That was never the intended course of things.....
But I digress. I don't think the FDA wishes to *ban everything*, they just want to take over the market so that if a) it ends up really becoming the former tobacco industry, which is dying, they'll make out and b) for people to fail and go back to smoking. So, it wants to ban everything *useful* while taxing (and getting paid off by BT). Which in some ways is worse.... TBH I wouldn't mind a reasonable tax on vape gear and some *sensible* precautions, I'm a reasonable human being and like anyone I don't LOVE paying more taxes, and as far as I'm concerned, any taxation money should head STRAIGHT to harm reduction and promoting vaping. That would be the ONLY way I would be remotely happy, but of course, I doubt it will happen.
