Hey Purple Monkey, what helps me most with cravings is having a tank of WTA (whole tobacco alkaloid juice) around. I had a 3 ppd habit, and getting over even the tar detox was extraordinarily unpleasant. I used some routinely in the beginning, and it really helped. Higher nicotine (especially with a flavor you really like, maybe saved for those "craving moments") might help as well. It can be something you "save" for those hard moments.
I dual used a bit at first, but I would vape right before and right after every single cigarette. That also helped, reinforcing I was a vaper and realizing I didn't actually "like" those cigarettes and they didn't give me the "satisfaction" I thought I'd achieve.
WTA is expensive, doesn't help everyone, but if it does help it can be a valuable tool. Unless you want to buy it forever, it's really more of a quitting "tool" if you ask me, although I found removing it infinitely easier than quitting smoking, and I still keep some around for if I am going into a stressful situation, although I'm not dependent on it like I was cigarettes.
Most of all though, whether you give in to a craving or not, just keep vaping! That was the advice I got and it worked for me! The more I vape, the less interested I become in cigarettes. Do I get the occasional craving? Yes. Do I vape through them now? Yes.
Sometimes it's good to grab a vape and head for a determined march somewhere else, but not where you used to smoke. Like a stroll in your neighborhood in the evening (if it's safe) or going outside at work but NOT heading to the smoking area and etc. Or distract yourself by organizing a drawer, crossword/soduku (you can vape during both of these) favorite TV show, ad infinitum etc., if you are catching my drift.
Most of all though, great job and keep up the good work, you are doing fantastic.
Anna
