Hi I just wanted to say hi, I'm new to the forum, I've been vaping for about 6 months now. It's going pretty well. I was a 2 pack a day smoker maybe a little more.i still crave ciggs from time to time but haven't given in yet just wondering if anyone else struggles with this and how you deal with it.

I can't really help with a total sudden quit. I never 'quit' per se. I had plenty of cigarettes left and just decided to see how long I could go until I lit another one up. It'll be 7 years on Feb. 27th. Trying to 'quit' would have just given me an anxiety attack and made it impossible.

So, you've outdone me by far already.

I love your name!

When I switched to vaping I started with a vape pen and 24 mg juice which kicked the craving into the next frame. If you are struggling...up the nicotine. Struggling a lot? Up the nicotine a lot. Depending on your setup you might need to switch to something that can handle high nicotine without blowing your head off your shoulders.

Welcome to the forum! Fortunately I haven’t had a problem but I didn’t smoke nearly half as much as you did! I can only imagine how difficult it is but seems you’re getting thru it. Just need to get over those nic cravings. I’m sure a lot of more experienced folks here will give you really good advice.
Good luck and hang in there it’s worth it!

Hey Purple Monkey, what helps me most with cravings is having a tank of WTA (whole tobacco alkaloid juice) around. I had a 3 ppd habit, and getting over even the tar detox was extraordinarily unpleasant. I used some routinely in the beginning, and it really helped. Higher nicotine (especially with a flavor you really like, maybe saved for those "craving moments") might help as well. It can be something you "save" for those hard moments.

I dual used a bit at first, but I would vape right before and right after every single cigarette. That also helped, reinforcing I was a vaper and realizing I didn't actually "like" those cigarettes and they didn't give me the "satisfaction" I thought I'd achieve.

WTA is expensive, doesn't help everyone, but if it does help it can be a valuable tool. Unless you want to buy it forever, it's really more of a quitting "tool" if you ask me, although I found removing it infinitely easier than quitting smoking, and I still keep some around for if I am going into a stressful situation, although I'm not dependent on it like I was cigarettes.

Most of all though, whether you give in to a craving or not, just keep vaping! That was the advice I got and it worked for me! The more I vape, the less interested I become in cigarettes. Do I get the occasional craving? Yes. Do I vape through them now? Yes.

Sometimes it's good to grab a vape and head for a determined march somewhere else, but not where you used to smoke. Like a stroll in your neighborhood in the evening (if it's safe) or going outside at work but NOT heading to the smoking area and etc. Or distract yourself by organizing a drawer, crossword/soduku (you can vape during both of these) favorite TV show, ad infinitum etc., if you are catching my drift.

Most of all though, great job and keep up the good work, you are doing fantastic.

Hi purple monkey. Welcome to the ECF.

Yeah... I got Cravings for Cigarettes for a Long Time after I switched.

But they got Father Apart as I got more time under my belt. And I could also Play the Tape of exactly what would happen if I Picked Up just One Cigarette.

Welcome to ecf. Great job on the 6 months and kicking those 'stinkies' to the curb. I agree during those stressful times to have a tank of higher nic strength to get you through.

What mg are you using now? Do you vape constantly or can you put them down while doing other things? While vaping is not smoking the vape will definitely curb those cravings---if the mg is high enough. If you find you are constantly vaping or the cravings come too much to suit you then you may want to up the nicotine on your regular ejuices until you feel ready to drop the strength, if ever.

What kind of smokes did you use while still smoking? Were they full flavored like a marlboro? Or were they considered a 'light' type of cigarette? Knowing that info may help the members here to better help you if you want.

Happy vaping.....:vapor:
