The only one that comes to my mind and imho is a huge problem, is using a flavoring that can’t handle the heat imparted or causes other problems. You’ll hear diacetyl mentioned a lot. It’s a butter flavor used in microwave popcorn amongst other things that causes serious issues. Most all oils do this to one degree or the other. More or less anything oil based. For example Cinnamon oil is just about the only way to get cinnamon flavor, and it’s long term bad. So there aren’t cinnamon flavored vapes anymore. There were also a lot of “butterfinger” flavored ones. Those are all gone too. So aside from avoiding oils, one also has to look at stuff that changes state when heated. Because vapes get hot. The most common bases used though boil at a pretty low temperature though, so fda baking safe flavors (which are tested to 450f) are fine. These two together kind of limit things. Not a lot, but some. FDA baking safe flavors, but only the ones that don’t have oils in them. That’s still a lot Though. There is also how strong a flavor is and how fast it gums up. Fruits for some reason generally are less strong and gum up faster. It varies a lot though. I’ve got some pomegranate that gums up so fast one needs to rewick daily, or even more often. Some can last a week or more. I,d call mango about medium. Another one I see is ”natura” flavorings. This is generally speaking crap. ”natural” just means naturally sourced. A chemical is a chemical. Its source doesn’t matter. If it is created from coal, or some critically endangered jungle tree, it’s the same stuff. The tree one is ”natural” though while the coal one is not even though they’re actually the Sam and the ”natural” one is actually much worse for the environment.
