New mod and tank

Hi all. I finally decided to upgrade from my Kangertech subox mini. Been using it since February and was very pleased with it. But after a while I wanted something new with more power .

Finally I bought the smok Alien with TFV4 mini tank 3 days ago, and it's been great. I have a question on the tank though. I have always rebuild my own coils on the subtank with kenthal wire and Japanese cotton. The TFV4 came with the clapton coil. Can I still rebuild with kenthal or shall I buy some clapton coil?

Yes you can still use kanthol, I use kanthol a1 on my tfv8

The Tvf Rta's are great and yes you can use any type acceptable coil wire. However I do not like the premade TVF4 & 8 coils are juice drinkers.

At the moment I'm still using the one that came pre-installed in the tank. To be honest i haven't even looked at it an poured the juice in as i was really looking forward to try the new mod and tank. But i have seen some reviews where a lot complained about the quality of pre-made coils of tfv4

I build my own .30-.35 ohm and run at 55-60 and saves battery and doesn't drink juice bad

If you're going to use this tank or the tfv8's premade coils (which are all amazing) you should definitely get into DIY or you'll be spending more money on juice than cigarettes

you can get Clapton wire made out of kanthal

I tried to build my RBA on the TFV4 mini.
1st attempt: it was ok at first but then started giving dry hits
2nd attempt: a bit of leakage and dry hit if exceeding 20W which is very low

I used the premade clapton coil that was original installed on the RBA which is reading 0.716 ohms and japanese cotton. Ideally I'd like to go to higher wattage as it's not strong at all on 20W but I'm concerned that I will burn the wick again. Apart from that I cannot figure out why it's leaking.

Any suggestions.

Another issue I found is when you need to replace the coil or wick while the tank is not empty. On the subtank I used to just flip it upside down and open from the bottom with out any issues. On the TFV4 mini the only way I found to get to the coil is to remove completely the glass and I didn't find a way to open from the bottom
