Hi, everyone. I'm new to the group and I'm looking for some help with the Aspire Plato. It's my first mod and I'm stumped. I DO know that I'm after a large cloud and flavor with minimal throat hit. All of the different coil choices and ohms has me perplexed - not to mention all of the choices of watts / voltage, etc...that the mod offers. I'm used to putting a tank on a simple VV battery and running with it. Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

What coils has it come with?

Guessing you have the option of 1.8ohm and 0.4ohm, the 0.4ohm is going to produce lots of vapor at 30, 40 (?) watts and the 1.8ohm is for more gentle 10-15 watt puffing.

I would prime up the 0.4ohm with plenty of liquid, fill the tank and start it at low power (15?) in regular wattage mode.

Yep. Sub Ohm and High VG Juice is the secret to larger clouds

You're right. It came with a 1.8ohm and a 0.4ohm. I tried the 0.4ohm and got nothing, except possibly lung damage. Very little vapor. What is the correct way to prime it? I dropped juice into the coil (directly- outside of the tank) until it was saturated. Then filled the tank up and waited maybe 15 minutes....

Any coil below 1 ohm is subohm. Your 0.4 is subohm. Sounds like you did everything right might be a bad coil. What watts are you vaping at?
With the 0.4 ohm, I started out around 40 watts. Very little vapor. I tried to go down in watts because of the kick, but regardless of the watts, not much vapor. I have another 0.4ohm coil. I might try it later on. Maybe it was a bad coil.

I really appreciate all of this help.

When I used sub-ohm tanks (still do occasionally) I always started at a lower wattage on a new coil and increased it slowly to avoid dry hits and/or burning the coil (and my throat).

When you first install a new coil you may want to start at 10-15 watts to break it in and then increase the wattage in 5w increments to get the vapor you desire. I never went directly to my target - in your case 40w. Always worked for me, but YMMV.

Best of luck :)

Not trying to patronize you with this question, but did you take a direct lung hit? Or a mouth to lung hit? Sub ohm vaping requires a larger airflow and a direct lung hit.

I've done both. With the 0.4ohm coil (and the other coils I've used), I closed off the air flow and tried mouth to lung. I even opened up the airflow gradually, while trying either mouth to lung or direct to lung. Either way, with the watts turned up past 20-25, it hurt. Right now, I'm using a 1.2ohm coil and it's on 29 watts. It's not killing me and it's producing decent vapor. The airflow is wide open and I'm doing direct to lung.

Thank you. :)I'll try that. If there's little to no vapor at 10 watts, should the vapor increase as I go up?

First, Howdy and welcome to ECF! Glad to see you succeeding.

Drastically at first, from no vapor to some. After the point that the vapor is no longer "cold", it will be less and less additional per watt, just get warmer. Some flavors like a warmer vape (e.g. bakery) and some cooler (e.g. fruits) for me and many others. Once you understand why things don't work right and get all that in hand, a WHOLE lot of this comes down to personal preferences.

Many vapers have a variety of devices. That variety really helps to nail down what works best for you, and learn when something is just plain a poor performer, and when something is not working properly. But NOTHING beats asking questions to move along the curve to being fully satisfied by your gear.

Looking forward to seeing you around ECF!

Hi Georgia
So you know PG & nic will give a bigger throat hit but so will some flavors. With me it is anything with a perfumy or citric taste, too strong and I just can't vape it. Stronger flavors themselves give bigger throat/lung hits.

I also find it helps to keep my draws short. I can't emulate these guys in videos that draw for 10 seconds straight for that massive cloud, I'd blow a gasket if I tried. My draws are short and I keep much of the cloud in my mouth and not to my lungs.

Keep experimenting, it's what we've all done and keep doing. Luck to you with it.

Thank you so much. Things were much simpler when I just screwed a tank into a battery, but I really love the mod. I'm just trying to learn as much as I can at the moment....along with a lot of trial and error.:thumb:

I have a weakness for strong fruity (not citrus) and candy flavors. The stronger, the better. I'm going to assume that this may be one of my issues. However, I'm still experimenting with watts and different coils.
Thanks for your advice!
