Got the mvp2 last nite and really am liking it! The I Clear 30 really goes through some juice though. I put the Evod on, set it at 4volts, 8watts (2.0 ohm coil) per the recommended chart. I haven't really had any dry hits but after 2 or 3 mils of juice, the coil is really cruddy and the wicks are dark. Taste really drops off until I clean the head and start fresh. juice is 40pg/60vg.

So...I'm getting about a day out of it before it needs cleaning. Is this normal? It seemed to stay clean longer with the Evod battery. What is a good power setting for this combo? I really want a Kayfun but that will come with time.

I think the heavier vg ratio in your juice could be gunking up your coils a little faster than usual. As for the settings, their is really no "set" setting. It is what YOU like best and what your comfortable with and what YOU think makes each flavor you use come out best. It's a very personal thing. What I like you might not like. I always adjust my settings with each flavor and what ever watts brings out the flavor best for me. I personally vape around 15.7 watts but for some that may be too low and for some too high. It is very personal and adjust to what you think brings the flavor out best. Hope this helps some and wish you the best.

For clearos, I found that they could use a good cleaning at each tank fill. Especially for darker, sweeter, juices. For a clear, thin juice, I've gotten away with longer before flavor dropped off. I wound up moving to cartotanks for less maintenance time. They take a bit longer to prime the coil, but once they're set up there is no cleaning or dry burning. You just top off the tank until the carto dies, and a carto dies a nice, long, slow death while in a tank. Once dead, I toss them. I didn't feel bad about it, as they were cheaper then many of the new dual coils and even some single coil heads out there. I mainly stuck with IBTanked. If you go to their complete tank section, they walk you through buying all you need.

Alternatively, you can try rebuilding. Kayfuns work great with an MVP. Just build at 1.3 ohms or more. The coil itself can last a month or more, and you just need to switch out the wicking and give the tank a rinse. Dry burn when needed.

If I push the power too high, will it burn out coils or give me a burnt hit? I've noticed that experimenting does change flavor, but it's still virgin territory to me.

Air flow plays a very important role. As important as ohms and volts. For many clearos, the airflow isn't there for higher voltages. Just move up a setting at a time and stop at where you feel it tastes best. If you aren't satisfied, and it gives you a burnt taste before you are, then pick up a rebuildable, which provides better airflow.

Great choice on the MVP , it's awesome. Imo, with 98% of tank's and clearo's i don't even touch the volts button , i set the watts from as low as 7.5 to max around 9.5 or 10 , anymore than that the vape is not as good and i have experimented plenty.

My most common setting with Iclears and Pro Tanks is 8.5 watts, even with my Kayfun i only set watts to around 9.5 and i get a killer vape .

Thanks to all. I was afraid to go over 8 watts for fear of cooking a coil, but I went up in increments to the max. 9.5 seems to be the spot for Good Life el Camino. Got some Backwoods Brew 555 and Honey Flue Cured on the way so it'll be playtime again! I understand mechanics and electrical, so wrapping some wire around a drill bit should be do-able with a Kayfun.

Man, I'm really loving this hobby...and your forum! More questions coming soon. ;-)
