New Orleans La.
we recently had a vape Expo down here and the exhibitors were rudely suprised by a group of tax collecting officials... reminiscent of the days of 13th century England ;)
In the attempt to collect maybe 10-20K$ in taxes, they ended up potentially loosing millions of income for the city. The vendors stated that they will not be returning to this city for future events...
Way to go Nola Gov...

I am Unaware of Sales Tax being required on this kind of "Free Sample" in Louisiana.

This is the Kind of Thing that an Event Coordinator's and Exhibitors Lawyers should have Researched. And if No Sales Tax is required for this type of Product in a "Free Sample" form, then the Event Coordinator/Exhibitors should have told those Tax Collectors to Stick It.

The exhibitors are not selling anything so the sales tax Nazis can not collect any money. These greedy slobs are however, exerting a demand that they pay an "excise" tax on free stuff so the state can continue to pay bloated salaries & pensions. An excise tax is something the .gov collects when they can't figure out another way to legally collect some other form of tax.
This type of extortionist behavior is a valid reason why I will not be visiting NOLA or the state of Louseyana anytime in the near or distant future.

I went to this, and there weren't many vendors giving free samples. Many vendors, probably over 125, but not too many free samples. Good/Great prices, but I only got maybe 7 or 8 free bottles. I spoke to one of the vendors about this and they said they used to give out hundreds of bottles but then people didn't order any for months (they were "shooting themselves in the foot" as he put it)

But living in NOLA (outskirts), I am not surprised about them trying to tax the vendors. I love NOLA, but the politicians are so corrupt it's not funny:(

No tax on zero nic eliquid according to the video report. Why was there an issue with samples?
Many states require taxes to be paid on samples if is something they tax.
In Minnesota its the sales tax. It varies from state to state.

And would be outlawed with the deeming as written:

1.A. Introduction and Summary

"Free samples of proposed deemed tobacco products would also be prohibited."
