I took the plunge a few weeks back and ordered my first mech mod, a Nemesis clone. Can't afford an original so thought I'd give a clone a shot. Works beautifully. I had a squape clone perched on top that was okay but no matter what I did I was having problems with leaks and gurgles. I finally got fed up and ordered a couple of Patriot clones. Here is my problem...

When I put the Patriot on my Nemesis it absolutely will not fire. I'm running a dual coil set up that meters out at 1.9 ohms on an 18350 AW IMR battery with a 7A fuse. I know that I'm not hitting the amp limit for either the battery or the fuse. When I put the atty on my Omnitester it reads just fine. No jumping around or finicky readings. Same goes for when I test the voltage on the mod, no problems. If I have both on the Omnitester to test the voltage under load the mech will fire the atty through the Omnitester. Now my question is....

Is it possible that the 510 connection on the Patriot is not hitting the positive contact of the Nemesis? In essence, is the positive pin on my Nemesis too short? If this sounds plausible to you guys, is there a place to buy a longer positive pin? If we can't do that is there any way to adjust the 510 connection on the Patriot short of ripping the thing apart? If not that, is there any way to fix this? Please help.....these Patriots look too dang sexy on top of my mech for me to just give up on them.

Thanks guys

If the patriot sits flush first thing i'd check is if you have an adjustable top pin, if you do put the patriot on and snug up the pin until you feel a bit of resistance against the bottom of the patriot. I have both a patriot and trident clone and when I put the trident on I have to snug up the top pin.

It's almost certainly the center pin in the 510 connection. Who is the maker of your nemesis? On many mechs you can unscrew the top cap of the mod and adjust the contact pin up or down. This is mostly used to eliminate the gap between the mod and atty. If yours has that adjustment, screw on the atty then turn the adjusting pin until you feel it make contact.

Instead of a dual coil. You may want to try a single. For me to get the Patriot running right I used the parallel coil with 28ga Kanthal wrapped 5 times on a 2mm screwdriver. Drilled one air hole out just a little bigger.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I have the postive pin screwed all the way in to the top cap on my nemesis. There is no battery rattle or anything to I have to make the assumption that the battery is making contact all the way around. I've tried screwing the patriot on to the top cap with the postive contact backed out a bit and then screwing the contact in. When I do this though it never "snugs in" it just screws all the way in with no resistance.

As far as the resistance goes, when I put the whole set up on my Omnitester it gives an overall reading of 1.9 ohms. Am I wrong in thinking that this is the resistance for the entire atty? I had thought it would measure the resistance for the whole set up and not just one coil or the other.

The thing that makes me think it has to be the positive pin in the nemesis not making contact with the atty is the fact that everything fires when I put it all on the Omnitester. So the Patriot will make contact with the Omnitester's resistance side and the Nemesis will make contact with the voltage side. I push the fire button on the mod and the coils light up bright and beautiful with a reading on the Omnitester of 4.0-4.1V on a fresh battery.

Does this clarify anything? Any further ideas?

Could you possibly take a couple pictures?

First of the 510 connector on the patriot, then of the patriot installed on the Nemmy topcap (just the rda/topcap) with the contact adjusted as far in as it will go.

May help figure out whats going on here.
