Welll.... I will be buying some cartos once the silver ones come in hehe =) Did buy 2 black the other day though for my dad lol.

NO - If this case is like the one I have from another vendor when I first got an ecig, it fits 5 "normal" (Black/Silver) SI cartomizers with their condoms on (this will not fit the proposed new XL cartomizers) . . .
Matter of fact, they are perfect for carrying your filled cartomizers in your pants/shirt pocket or just drop in a bag of any kind . . . No Leakage and it stays closed - More importantly, everything stays nice and neat . . .
EDIT: AND - BTW: Extremely good for keeping your cartomizers "dry" when going to the beach or pool (mine fell into the water and actually floated
) . . . Can't wait till I can get some more . . .

I just wanted to add that these are the perfect size to even fit in women's front jean pockets.
Ladies will know what I mean, I can barely carry anything but chap stick in my front pockets.

With these cases, and others like them, is it important to keep the condoms on the cartos or is it ok to carry them without?

Okay - My apologies for the interruption or even to suggest something different than "Imagine" has suggested . . .
This is Just an FYI based on "My" experience:
I do not know specifically about the new cases that are now being offered by "SI", particularly since my experience has been with the "Clear" Plastic Case that I have from another vendor (which BTW: I Absolutely & Really "LIKE") . . .
I find that it is much better to have the condom on the cartomizer, especially when traveling . . . I have noticed on occasion that there maybe some seeping of "Nic-juice" from the cartomizer for many different reason, including over filled, "Air" Pressure (When Flying - Yes, in a plane - I'm not "Superman" or the "Green Lantern" Well not yet anyway ) and when there is a change in temperature (Air conditioning to High Heat Outside or left in a bag on the Beach or Poolside). . .
As such when I do notice that a small amount of "Nic-Juice" is in the condom and not in the case . . . Also, all I have to do is wipe off the cartomizer and clean the condom with a piece of tissue before putting the condom back on . . .
Lastly. with the condom on, the cartomizer is securely in the case - no movement at all, no "jingling" or noise when walking either . . .
AND - Another side-note: With the "Clear" case - I have had less af a "Hassle" with TSA when and if the agent didn't know about eCig hardware and they have decided to search my bag to find out "what I was carrying" . . .
(BTW: When I get a chance, I will take a picture of my "Traveling" set-up and post . . . I don't know where yet - probably "Chit Chat" or I will start another thread "Show Us Your SI Volt Stuff" . . . )
