i wonder if you can keep the split fire on its side (fully loaded) without it flooding and gurgling?
Yes you can. I have several I got from another vendor. The wicks hold nicely and prevent the juice from entering the top chamber. I always lay my tanks on their side when not in use, at night, and in my handbag full of juice and they've never leaked flooded or gurgled :) They are a very good vape

I will second what Aggie said about the Splitfire....I have 2 of them.....great vape, no leaking, easy to fill. Priming is critical, is Eric said in his description. So far, I haven't had any issues with cracking. I've actually gone through 8 tanks without having to clean.

What kind of batteries does the LavaFire need? The reason I'm asking is that, when I bought the Telescope from another vendor, there was no mention of needing IMR batteries. But, when I received the Telescope, I found that the atties couldn't get enough power to vape worth bothering with unless I used IMR's. All the old li-on batteries that I thought I was going to be able to use with the Telescope were useless!

I would really like a mechanical mod that would make use of my old 18650 li-on batteries. It may not be a possibility. But, I'm hoping!

That is really strange!! I have a telescope (I got from another vendor too...before Eric got his in!) and it uses everything I throw at it...IMR or li-ion. No problems at all! That includes both the 18650 and the 18350 types (I've even tried a 14500 in there...works fine! lol!). Wonder what's up with yours? I love my telescope, but am drooling over the Lavafire now. Dangit! I'm just going to go see if I can do some creative crunching with my budget/bank account now. I know it doesn't cost that much, but when you are on fixed income, every dime counts...arrrgh!!! WHY couldn't Eric have released this first of December instead of now????

Fourthrok, I had started a whiny response to your post thinking that my Telescope must be broken/defective since yours was working on batteries that mine wasn't working on. But, I stopped, got out my box of mod batteries, and tried one more time.

I had tried 3 different li-on batteries before. So, it hadn't occurred to me that it could be the batteries. I mean all 3?! It had to be the Telescope, right?

Guess what. You're right! This time it works fine! Thank you so much for making me realize that it might just be the batteries!

I think I need to get a voltage meter to check all my batteries. Some of them are getting a little old now. Obviously, at least 3 of them need to be trashed. But, now I need to figure out which 3. :glare:

Again, thank you!

Glad that got all worked out DancingHeretik! lol! I was really puzzled. The telescope is one mod that I can pretty much use any rechargeable battery I've got on hand. But I do admit, my favored one is the 18650. I like a long long time between charges! That bottom button thing is such a blessing for people who's hands cramp, isn't it? Just sort of squeeze and vape. Bliss! The LavaFire has the same type button...huge draw!

We finally got a multimeter just last week...high time! Since hubs and I are both modding up a storm now! :vapor:

I personally don't see the appeal of a mechanical with a button on the bottom, maybe it's because I am lazy :)

Since I usually use the 18650 sized mods...I tend to rest the bottom of the battery against my little finger and the edge of my palm anyway. At least most of the time. So the bottom button works great for me. I just squeeze a bit...and the mod fires. I ease up and it stops. I do use batteries with buttons of course...but they require slightly more fine motor skills than just squeezing does! lol!

Button on the bottom is always in the same place.

With a side button, you have to actually pay attention and find the button. Turn. Turn. Oops, mouthpiece not lined up right. Turn that a little. Now fire!

I wasn't sure how I'ld like a bottom button. I like it! :thumb:

I wasn't thinking about that...but you are absolutely right! Nothing against side buttons of course. I like 'em fine on my pretty toys. But I'm getting seriously spoiled with my telescope. So much so I really miss it when I don't have a bottom button!

New Product:

Artemas Locking 510 DCT - Gun Metal - Exclusive Edition

This is a very sharp looking tank, if you like smoktech cartos this is a huge winner.

NEW version of the DCT Tank! IN Gun Metal

What makes this Artemas tank exclusive you ask? Good question!
It comes with your choice of Single Coil or Dual Coil Carto and a matching drip tip. NO EXTRA COST!
Ok so the drip tip isn't Gun Metal, but it's as close as I could get and it's not a cheap one, it's an Anodized Slate 510 Drip tip
Completes the look and looks extremely sharp all together.

Comes with a grooved channel on the bottom to hold the cartomizer and keep it from spinning. Plus a bottom cap screws on locking the cartomizer in place..
Now the cartomizer will not spin or come out by accident.
Made of anodized aluminum top and bottom with a plastic window in the middle

1.5 ohm DUAL hole pre-punched Smok Tech dual coil 510 cartomizer
OR.
1.7 ohm single hole pre-punched Smok Tech single coil 510 cartomizer

Holds about 5ml of e-liquid

Please note this does not come pre assembled, you'll get a packaged Artemas Gun Metal tank, a packaged Carto and a packaged Drip tip!
We won't get our grubby fingers on your tank (although we do recommend you clean the metal outside parts of the tank to a nice shine before using.).

Eric's review:
Hey come on, I put this together how could it be anything more than amazing! .It takes all smoktech replacement carto's has a spin blocker cap and is a solid and beautiful tank, who doesn't like Gun Metal?

***************

I also have this in black and chrome (but without the special tip or carto selection)
Plus we received a bunch of replacement cartos today in many resistances and coils.

****************

Oooh pretties!! Of course you HAD to put those on the site AFTER I'd made my order yesterday afternoon. Humph!! But that's okay. I'll be back...there's a PV or two calling my name for the first of the December! I have the "Gyroidal Extreme" drip tip...and it's a show stopper. Absolutely awesome...probably my favorite drip tip. I WANT your gunmetal Artemas tank deal! How'd you know I've been contemplating a new tank for my "black chrome" (gunmetal) telescope?? Are you psychic or something? Naw...you couldn't be or you would've sent out brain waves for me to hang on and wait to order a bit later yesterday than I did!

For the new Gun Metal and Black Chrome tanks - can the entire end sections of the tanks be removed? I like to cut the Smoketech tanks down to size for standard length carto's, that's why I'm asking. They do look sharp!

no they are permanently attached. I didn't like it at first but love it now lol
