Hey there, I am new to vaping I live in Canada and am exploring RTA's and RDA's. I currently own a Kangertech
sub tank mini and a Little boy clone RDA. I Tried out one of the ceramic coil tanks but unfortunately I am only rocking with a 50w E-leaf so I did not have the power to get much benefit out of it. But I am still excited to see what comes of the ceramic coil design.
I definitely have allergies or sensitivities to PG so I am switching over to Max VG and 100 percent VG juices. I am also getting into DIY and am looking for any info on VG qualities and nic manufacture qualities. I am very sensitive it seems like peppery nic and high PG solutions have made me feel nausea in the past.
Any suggestions on blogs or forums with comparisons Nicotine solutions on food grade VG producers as well as personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! =)

Hi and welcome,
Congratulations on quitting!
If you had been /are a light smoker (1-10 per day), you may have experienced a nicotine overdose if the liquid you have is too strong.
What nicotine level have you been using? Brands/flavours?
Have you considered that you may have a sensitivity to the flavourings or additives in retail liquids?

Good to have you here!
Cheers

Thanks for the heads up. I was vaping 18mg nic in a pen Kangertech v3 (I think) mini tank. Then I moved on to the build-able RDA and build-able sub ohm tank and have been trying out 3-6 mg nic ratio e-juices. I noticed that vaping 50-50 mixes made me nauseous whether it was 6mg 3mg or 0 mg nic.One of my favorite juices was by VIP the Beez Milk but it was in 50/50 and max VG which I know is not 100 percent VG probably 70/30 or something like that. Unfortunately it makes me a lil sickly I think there may be that diacetyl in it as there is a creamy buttery taste goin on but I am not sure. So that's my main reason for goin to DIY I would like to know exactly what it is that is giving my adverse effects. I wasn't feeling that way when vaping the 70VG 30 PG VapeShop RY4 mix so I am very curious.

The "easy" way into DIY is to "cut" retail juice with VG or PG. VG in this case. Liquid Barn - Everything you need to make premium eLiquid
It will decrease both the nicotine content and the flavouring concentrations. It also gives more clouds and some sweetness depending on the source of the VG.

If you are pulling on the new devices as frequently as the pen(kangertech) you may find juice in the sub .3% range much more tolerable.
What is a normal/typical resistance in your RDA/subtank? How many watts are you using with each?

The Kanger Pen "might" have been putting out 8 watts on it's best day. The Istick at 45W with a Dual coil Sub ohm RDA is a whole new ballgame.

cheers

Juice is expensive for me so I usually go with a single coil. The pen I no longer use really. My build on the sub tank mini usually turns out to be .4-.6 ohm I usually vape between 25w-32w on the I-stick 50w sub ohm mod. That is the same for the RDA as well I go single coil. I will probably rock the dual coil once I get my DIY order placed and received but for now I can not afford the juice to soak 2 wicks. I am using organic Japanese cotton right now but I will be trying out de-gummed hemp-fiber as an alternative. I don't know what japanese cotton is made of , but I do know hemp is smoke-able so dry hits should not effect me as much if that is causing some of my discomfort but I am not sure. There are a lot of factors.

Indeed. Call me old fashioned, but people who struggle with vaping (like I did) might have found the entire transition easier by moving up the ladder whilst acclimatizing themselves to inhaling vapor.

No disrespect or grumpy attitude directed at the O.P. but the vaping industry is not doing newbies any favors with all these high power mods and the "expectation" that vaping has to be done with huge clouds to quit the smokes.

It seems logical to me that an 8w Kanger Pen vape (eGo) might be totally vapable, whereas all the latest toys are becoming even harder to acclimatize to. Some people have a permanent allergy to PG. Other people just need to get used to it before going all "max VG" and throwing away all the liquids that have higher PG content.

I was given 4 free bottles of 100% PG at Vapefest. Three years ago, I couldn't have vaped that...not a chance. Now, I can drip it into a dripper and turn it up to 50w without blinking. OK, so it makes no clouds, but it hits the spot quite well. PG is an irritant, it takes some getting used to. :)

I think most all cotton is made of hair of some kind unless its synthetic, I am not sure but I do know hemp is smoke-able so dry hits should not effect me as much if that is causing some of my discomfort but I am not sure. Stick with the cotton or move up to rayon/cellucotton (imo).

Kewl, NicSelect is one of the vendors I am hoping to test out. I am in Canada though so Liquid barn does not look like an option for me but thx. There is www.diy-ejuice.com located in my country and they have a pretty good reputation for service and reliability.

I suggested LB for the many quality products they sell that are nicotine free. (VG ) I had heard the cross border nic thing is a bit sketchy.

ETA: The vendor you linked should have everything/anything you might need. :toast:

Cheers
