Just got my PCC (blue) and two 510s in a kit (also blue - though different blue from the PCC - too bad, I'm a color-matching freak).

Health Cabin rocks - 5 days from China exactly.

But. Sorry if these are common, but I can't find exactly what I need, so:

- The power connection on the blue batts is different from my original black 510. On the black it's a female connector with a narrow hole, on the blue it's a male-ish connector with wide "extrusion". My original USB charger has a narrow male connector which seems to retract. Can I use it on both? Why the difference?

- It said on the manual for the PCC that it takes 4 hours to charge. The light just turned green after an hour and a half. Should I keep charging? I already know that these batteries don't have a "memory", but can I over-charge it? Can I overcharge the batts for the PV? Should I be obsessive about the charging times etc, or can I leave a batt (or a PCC) on a charger overnight, for instance? Can I leave a batt in the PCC until I am ready to use it, or take it out as soon as it's charged? I read some place that this type of batteries can blow up if treated incorrectly. Made me nervous...

Thanks, all,
Briar.

I don't know anything about a 510 but I think maybe you have a manual PCC and auto batts. Yes those are different.
Charge your batts like they say for the first time. After that go with the green light. I have left my 901's in the charger overnight, didn't seem to hurt but I don't do it often. I try to charge earlier in the day, just to be safe.
I am bumping this back up so you can get some help for the batts and PCC.
Welcome to ECF!:)

Unless there's a new development, (possible) something's not right. Where did you get your 'original black 510'? Are all the batteries 'manual' ie. with a button?

Thanks, all,

The PCC no doubt had some charge on it when shipped. Some fully charge them, some to 40% or so. When the green light comes on it's fully charged. There is some different views on leaving a ecig battery in after it's finished charging - some say, no problem - most chargers will cut off when the battery is fully charged and no more 'exchanges' takes place between the batt and the charger. Some say to remove it. I've left mine in after charging with no downside. That's when I'm out. I don't charge batts in the PCC when at home where I have other chargers. Why use the PCC? Eventually the internal batt will give out, why aid in the progress? However, do what suits you. Leaving any li ion batt in a charger will not 'overcharge it'. See 'batteryuniversity.com'.

I got it from Innovapor. And I got my current two from Health Cabin. All three are manual. And the threading is identical.

I wrote to Health Cabin and was told that theirs is the genuine 510, and to send them a pic of the one I got from Innovapor. Unfortunately, my camera is cablui. Maybe I can draw it or something...

Now that I look at it more carefully, it looks like there is a bump on the bottom of the "well" on the business end of the batt, and my original one has a hole in the middle of that bump, but the ones I just got don't. Otherwise they are identical. The hole is obviously for the USB charger that came with the Innovapor one, which has a narrow male connector (which happens to be on a spring and can be pushed in).

This is very strange.

Thanks so much for your reply. I was beginning to think folks were getting heartily sick of my endless technical malfunctions!

This has gotta be a record of some kind. First I choke. Then I ruin an atomizer by first washing it and then flooding it. It still doesn't work right, no matter how much I blow it out.

Then this weird "hole" issue...

And I can't get any of them to wick right. I get one puff on a cart, and then have to put it down vertically batt side down for a minute or so, or else I get that lovely burn taste. Yuck.

All that plus carts that leak, mouthfuls of juice, etc, etc. So far this has been a fairly tense experience. I think I am smoking more analogs, not less, from the stress. :-x

This is embarassing. I am not normally this inept.

And the funny thing is, much as I am frustrated by all this, I'm also obsessed with it and actually like it. I guess I am a glutton for punishment.

Yeah, it was mostly charged apparently. I was told later that Health Cabin charges their stuff before shipping. But they didn't say anything about it ahead of time that I could find, so I was just trying to follow instructions in the manuals.

Thanks again,
Briar.

The ones that don't have the hole are the odd ones. As far as 'genuine 510' I don't buy that Joye Tech makes the 510 and all of mine from any number of vendors - I have the Dura C from Janty, Joye 510 dietsmokes, Titan from a Totally Wicked design, Yeti from altsmokes iirc all have the hole in the center raised part in the batt well.

All of mine work in that one and the PCCs. The PCCs don't have that pin in the middle of the charger though.

Ooook, then. You think I should return the hole-less wonders, then? I hesitate to even try them in the USB charger... The pin will push back, but I don't want to break it. But they do charge fine in the non-USB charger and the PCC.

Thanks so much, Kent.

Cheers,
Briar.

Well, unless you _have_ to use the usb charger from IV, I wouldn't send them back. You have the other charger and as long as they work in the PCC you should be good. Just remember not to use them in the IV charger as I'm guessing that it might not seat right and those things you kinda have to force the batt in sometimes.

I like them for a 'backup' in the car. I have the Belkin dual usb car plug and the one side is rated 1amp for my Janty Stick using the charge cord as a passthru. The other side is rated .5 amps which is fine for a charger and I use the IV's usb charger - compact - and if I didn't bring my PCC, I can still charge a battery - I just leave it in the car for that purpose.

I went out one day without it and without a PCC but had two fully charged ecigs on me. Stayed a bit longer at a friends and was 'demo'ing' the ecig and on the way home I was sucking every bit of juice from the last dying battery. :) could have used the usb charger that day.

That makes sense. I have another charger and the PCC, so I suppose it's cool. I don't think I can take any more hassle.

I still wonder where the holes went tho... <snort>

I can imagine. :) I'm going to get all sorts of charger and power doohikeys just as soon as I can afford them. Useful critters they are.

Thanks again,
Briar.

The hole is a leftover from when they made auto batteries, it serves no function- if you look closer it should be filled with some sort of silicon. It's inevitable that they would do away with it.

The green light comes on (on the charger) when the battery is 80% charged. Best to leave it another 20-30 minutes.

You can leave batteries in the PCC all day. The trouble comes when the PCC needs charging, it will then start to drain your battery. Just watch that middle light, if it comes on get your battery out.
