It’s a dual element. Popping the silicone cap would give you direct access to the top element.
If you want to send me one I will attempt to test it. I have been pretty successful so far. I would need the atty and 2 cartridges, plus $7 if you want the atty returned.

When you pop it out can you see the metal of the coil?
Yes.
I have to tell you this is quite unsettling. A great feeling getting off cigs, then disappointment that vaping presents the dangers you discuss. I hope you can get your math figured out for definitive answers.

So to do it you want the tank and 2 coils, correct?

One more question. Maybe I’m not grasping all this. Your basic assumption is that without TC, there is potential risk, especially with any wattage over 10?
Yes, the tank and 2 coils, sometimes I destroy the first coil figuring it out.

I have seen wattage setups that are perfectly safe from a temp POV at 14w. Every brand of atty is different. How much wattage you throw at a given coil before you get too hot differs based on many factors. See this blog post for more detail: VV & VW Mod Temperature Variables.

My basic assumption is that unless you have tested a VW atty/coil with an external probe then you really dont know what temp you are running. I favor TC mods because then you know, and can control it.

Thanks. Your hard work is appreciated.

Don't let the disappointment overshadow the accomplishment of getting of cigarettes. Whatever (quote)danger(quote)* MAY exist, is dwarfed by what you were previously inhaling on a daily basis.

* It's entirely possible that you get more carcinogens (than from vaping) every time you fire up your BBQ grill.

My health has improved so much since I started vaping I'll take my chances. After 47 years of smoking I should be dead by now. I watch these commercials on tv where people are losing feet arms etc, but yet I am fine...WHY. I used to get bronchitis every six months and be out of work a week. I have had 2 colds in the past 5 years. I believe people are predisposed to certain health problems and smoking just makes them worse. Luck of the draw I guess.

Please read more of the thread. The whole point here is NOT that vaping is bad! It is about the nuances of potentially vaping safer.

Think of this as having side airbags in addition to your front airbags on your car. Its not about gettting rid of the airbags altogether.

The prevailing wisdom is that vaping is 95% safer than smoking, this is about making it maybe 97% safer.

We chose vaping as a safer alternative to smoking...if a little nudge in how we vape can make it even more safer...that's a big YEE-HAW !!

It is very possible, maybe even likely, that there are more carcinogens in a grilled steak than in an overheated vape. Think about that. There are tons of 2 percenters you can do with your food and cooking. Making it 2% safer. That's what this thread is about. Don't stop eating, and don't stop smoking. Just eat and vape smart.

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”

I got the answer to my math questions thank to Kurt.

.0925 mg/m^3 x (1 m^3/1x10^6 mL) x 500 mL = 4.62x10^-5 mg, which is 0.0462 ug of formaldehyde from the one puff. If we assume that it was 3 mg weigh loss from that puff, then 0.0462 ug/0.003g = 15.4 ug/g-eliquid or 0.0154 mg/g. This is right around what we got for a subtank for formaldehyde, which was 0.017 mg/g, and is extremely low.

So it appears that you are indeed in the right ballpark, at least for a few puffs you have measured.

Now I just need to wrap my head around the math and plug it into my spreadsheet.
