New taste after re-wicking?

So first things first, I'm not new to caping and I've been in the scene a lot I just now kind of decided to join the forum. But anyways. I'm vaping on a plumeveil clone and I noticed I had to clean my coils, so I dry burned them to get the black off. I usually run them under cold water after but I didn't this time. I rewicked the build and waited for the juice to soak and vaped, and got this terrible taste I can't even describe. Not like burnt cotton or metallic at all. Almost like a burning plant. I rewicked it again thinking it was the wick and got the same problem. Any ideas? I just plan on rebuilding it when I get home, but I rather like my build and would like to know if there is a way to save it.

It might have been something left in the cotton. most people boil organic cotton just for that reason. Me, I've learned to accept the taste, and it will eventually go away.

Another possibility, is in dry burning, you might have singed some silicone somewhere. I did that on an AGA-T, and it tasted weird for quite a while.

I'd take out the wick, then find some water some where, bottled water, whatever, and dry burn the coils off again then rinse and dry fire again and rinse again. Still happening then it as stated above, melted one of the insulators a bit, or the cotton ball. Try a new cotton ball first though, simplest and cheapest at first :). I've also found before handling my cotton before wicking, rinse my hands and fingers off with either isopropyl alcohol or wash them with "Dawn" dish soap to get the oils on my skin off so it isn't transfered to the cotton or other wicking.
