Hi Cassie.

All these batteries are slightly different. All I know is that on my eGo chargers, the light on the charger is red when I start and turns green at some point later.

My batteries themselves tend to flash differently. Is it a cheap starter kit from the internet, or did you buy it from a proper e-cig vendor?

is it a 3-click or 5-click... or does it not say?

Batteries flash a few or more times depending on the brand when contact is made with the charger just to let you know contact has been made. A green light on the charger means the battery is fully charged and its not a good idea to leave it on the charger for long after that. When trying to use the battery after its charged, there will be a different number of clicks in X-amount of time to turn it on. For instance, with a Joye ego, that's five clicks in under 10 seconds I think. Its tricky to get just the right number sequentially in the right amount of time. Some batteries are 3-clicks so I don't know about yours... just keep playing with clicks timing. When you see the same few lights flash as when you put it on the charger that's your signal that its on, then depress the button and it should stay lit as long as you do... its ready to vape then.

In all honesty, it could be charged but not functioning properly (i.e. dead/dodgy).

If it was me, I'd buy another kit from a proper vendor, and work out what you can save from what you have.

You could take it back? but long-term, if you get into vaping, a basic kit is.... well..... basic kit.

Did you get going with it at all?

PS, IF you decide to buy something else, be careful. Some London vendors will "take you to the cleaners" (rip you off) and even some of the internet stores are extremely dodgy.

See if you can get on

Vape Escape or Myepack (currently down for maintenance) UKecigCABIN (not store) to get an idea.

There are internet stores that will charge £79.99 for a 2 battery kit. (£29.99 ones...)

whats the sort of price I should be looking at to spend?

a 2 battery kit (Kanger brand) is available for under £30.
a Riva 2 battery kit is £39.99 (less 10% discount) so £36.
a single battery with a mini Protank is £19.99

If you want to know where is good on any given day.... you should ask on AAEC-UK. (that's my other forum...)
