Ive been vaping for about 2 yrs strictly clearmoizers & wanted to try cartomizers. I got a DCT 1.5 and it worked for a half hour then pretty much stopped or worked crappy. Ive also gotten a few smoktech carts that are used w/o a tank and they either barley worked or stopped working after like a half hour. They were all low resistance and I used either a 3.7 battery or variable volt at 3.2. Am i doing something wrong or do carts just suck. I put e-liquid in at an angle & made sure not to get any in center & not to overfill it.

Cartos used without tanks need to be topped off with liquid at frequent intervals. Otherwise, they burn. How often to top off depends on how much you vape, the carto size, resistance and voltage. I used Smoktech single coil 2.0 ohm XL cartos for a year at 3.7V without a tank. I'd top them off every half hour or so and could put a good 18ml of juice through one before tossing it 7-10 days later. I still use Smoktech cartos but punch them for use in a carto tank.

I agree with what yzer just said. About a half hour after continuous vaping you would need to top off with more e-juice. A standard length cartomizer only has a 1 ml liquid capacity. If you vape it dry within a half hour, it will burn dry. And once a carto's filler is burnt, it's literally toast; you'll never get that carto working again.

Curious that you seemed to have the same problem with cartos in a cartotank. Did those cartos have pre-drilled holes, or did you punch holes in them? Regardless, it sounds like the carto wasn't getting enough (or any) juice from the tank.

What method were you using to fill the cartomizer and the tank? I've written a cartotank tutorial in my blog. It has a step-by-step method that I've been very successful with, and also includes a couple of videos on two methods to set up a cartotank.

Having said all that, there is a slight learning curve involved with cartotanks that most of us endure. But following one of the tried and true methods generally results in a very satisfying tank experience.
