Just curious if there's anyway to tell if a bottle of vegetable glycerin contains nicotine without getting a testing kit?

I ordered some DIY stuff (72mg PG base bottle, seperate VG and PG bottles, flavours) and oddly the what should have been pure VG bottle came labeled as "7.2% VG base". Despite this I got the cravings that only hands can satisfy after trying the VG 'base' in a mix. Further still, got no stingy peppery nicotine taste trying a few drags of it neat - just what I assume is vegetable-y glycerin (kinda like omega 3 oil just far far less gross).

Anyway, is it safe to assume the bottle is just veg glycerin with a bad label? I tried shaking it about a little and vaping a few drags neat (potentially dangerous I know) but not even the faintest tickle of nicotine on my throat. I did order vegetable glycerin after-all :p

Also - I'm new to DIY. Mostly mixing to 10mg with the PG base now, with about 20% VG, the rest PG and a dozen drops of flavouring. Seems to be hitting the spot perfectly as any premixed e-liquid would, albeit less flavour than most (I'm erring on the side of 'lite'). Any advice would be awesome :D

Since you have already tried a vape test.

Try tasting a drop of it,
if it is just VG it would taste slightly sweeter without any harshness,
if it has Nic in it, it should leave a bit of a stinging sensation on your tongue.

Put a 1 or 2 ml in a bottle and expose it to some light and air for a day to a week
and see if the color changes, if it has nicotine, the color would change anywhere from
slight yellow to pink.
