New to dripping help?

Hey what up, i quit smoking almost a year ago n started off with egos and moved up to a itaste mvp and a protank, while i love them both i want to try dripping so i bought a low resistance and bridgeless 510 atomizer and a drip tip. I am wondering do i need a drip shield and some 510 to 510 connector if im just dripping at home? i feel like if im just doing a few drops wont it go were it is supposed to and get vaped? I hear this is the best way to vape for flavor..idk

I'm from the better safe than sorry school so I use the 510 to 510 connectors with a drip shield. Even when I think I've been careful I find a bit of residual juice in my drip shield.

I have to agree with peraspera. No matter how careful I am, my drip shield always has a few drops in it. Cheap and easy to use, why not?
