New to dripping, RDA's and RBA's and have a few questions.

Hi everyone,

So I've progressed from pro tanks and the like a igo-w and a kayfun clone. I've been watching a lot of videos and doing a lot of reading here learning how to build coils. I've had some success with my coils, I've been concentrating on using the igo-w to learn because I figure its less complicated to be able to just drip and see how it goes. Its been super cool so far and very enjoyable experimenting. I need to learn more about the electrical theory behind this stuff before I move on to mech mods for safety. I'm not trying to do any sub ohm cloud chasing.

Currently I'm using my mvp 2 to power my builds. Is it worth upgrading to something else? If a provari will do something that my mvp 2 doesn't, I might be tempted to buy one but as far as I can tell in the short term its not going to be a super huge upgrade. I've been thinking about that new seigeli 20w mod, or one of those sweet NES controller dna30 mods.

Am I right understanding that you should have your mod set 2 volts higher than the ohm of your coil? So if I've got a 1.7 ohm build I should be running my mod at about 3.7 volts? I'm after the best flavor I can get, but I also want a decent amount of vapor.

As for dual vs single coils which is better in rebuildables?

As for my coils, I've been using 28, 30 and 32 gauge kanthol and i've been wrapping them on 3/32 drill bits. my most current build is one coil, 10 wraps of 28 gauge on the 3/32 bit, torched and compressed into a micro and it came out to 1.7 ohms. I'm using organic cotton from whole foods. Any suggestions what I should try next? Smaller bit? Different gauge? More coils?

This stuff is fun!

garen there is no rule about volts and ohms ...other than Ohms law which is volts squared/ohms =watts. That rule of thumb will keep you around 8watts power.

Read up on Ohm's law and i would recommend reading up on battery safety even if you dont want to subohm. You can run a lot higher than 8 watts on a dripper if you have good air flow. A lot of people drill out their air holes. Dual coils will 1/2 your resistance so if you want a 2ohm build you need 2 4ohm coils. On my MVP i run a 1.7 ohm coil at 10 to 10.5 watts. On my mech i run a 0.5ohm coil and get about 35watts.

Its fun - combinations and permutations are almost endless.

Enjoy

Right on BeRight.

The 1.2 ohm twisted 28GA 1/16" ID spacer coil is a fun one. One pro is you can see if wick is getting cooked.
