I am trying to quit smoking cigs and aquired a Blu rechargeable ecig that frankly sucks. I'm looking for one that actually gives me a realistic feeling hit. I need a few things cleared up. Im looking at the Riva Xl which seems like a good one. tell me if this is correct. So the battery powers the atomizer which vaporizes the liquid that you put in the cartridges (needs replaced every time the liquid runs out?) what I don't know is what the atomizer cones are for. Also I think I understand. The higher voltage the battery and lower the resistance of the atomizer the more vapor and the harder the hit. Looking to get these cleared up and to get recommendations.

Yeah, I started on Blu also. Just doesn't have enough battery life. But the carto's taste ok. Try an ego twist or vision spinner, better starter battery. Not familiar with the Riva's but you are correct about the battery->atty->vapor. They do not need to be replaced after juice runs out though, they can be refilled. Yes, more volts and less ohms = more watts or more vape. But the hit your talking about can be obtained through various methods. Adding Vodka, PGA, more PG/less VG, or more watts.

Honestly people here will be pushing you towards things that really you are not ready for I mean like a mod or an ego c,t, or twist or any VV on the market

There are a few to look at and way your options

V4L
Bloog
V2
Greensmoke
Redds( really interested in this one I know the carto's are great tho

To name a few of the cig like e cigs that IMO makes the switch easier

im just saying i have no idea. honestly i want something easy like a kit that i don't have to work through a bunch of options, and if i do i would like to know the best brands and types of each individual part. I want one that gives you that nice little burn in the back of your throat like a real cigarette and has a decent battery life, because i will be smoking this like i was smoking as a pack a day smoker

I dont own one, but alot of people are using the Ego Twist batteries. You get the option of variable voltage in a small sized battery. Throat hit comes from the nicotine level along with the amount of PG that is in the e-juice you use along with higher voltage to achieve a warmer vapor... you will just end up adjusting the voltage to taste, but basic rule so you dont pop your attys is, the higher the ohms the higher the voltage can be set to. High voltage on low resistance will possibly pop your atomizer or cartomizer. I personally dont like to use a atomizer with the cartridge tip at all, if i use an atomizer i just direct drip 3 drops of juice into the center of the atty and put a drip tip on it or you can use an empty cartridge tip as well. I personally like to just use a cartomizer, which is like a atomizer with the poly fill material wrapped all in one piece. Look up a video on how to fill a carto via the condom method, works very well for me. After you fill the carto with the condom method (new empty cartomizer) you can just top off the carto with a few drops of juice to keep the poly fill wet so you dont get a dry burn, i tend to just keep a eye of the filler and top it off when it looks dry. An atty cone is basically just a decorative piece to make it look nice, however they also can tighten up your draw a bit, which can be a nice thing depending on what you like.

Short answer/personal taste,
Id say to buy a ego twist with the highest Mah rating (higher Mah longer battery will last per charge) get a pack of cartomizers at 2.0-2.5 ohms (or Regular resistance as there called on many sites)

Get a few 10ml bottles of various flavor e-juice ( i like the juice from ivape.net myself ) at the strength nicotine you want to try, i use 24mg of (super high i think its labeled on ivape ) i like there Peach, carolina cured(aged tobacco), and honeydew flavors the best.

make sure you get a charger with your ego batteries, and be sure you get 510 connection batteries and cartomizers

i think this will greatly improve your vapeing experience, hope this helps and dont give up.

this information is just what i have experienced and in no way should be considered the only options :)

510 connection battery = thread size for the connector. 510 thread types have the most accessories/options out there.

Get a kit. Two batteries, a charger, and a delivery system (can be just a large cartomizer, or a cartomizer + tank, or a wick tank system).

Ego twist is a great entry level variable voltage battery since you can adjust the voltage according to the taste you would like. Most, like myself, target watts. Volts squared divided by ohms equals watts. Volts is the power from the battery. Ohms is the resistance from the cartomizer/atomizer. My juices are usually vaped at 8-10 watts. Coils on the cartomizer/atomizer (single/dual) can vary the amount of vapor, or even the battery energy.

I target my watts at 8-10 using single coil low resistance cartomizers (1.5 +-, 1.7+-) using a cartomizer + tank system. Good vapor and good taste. I use Ego twist batteries. I can easily refill my DCT tanks just by pulling out the cartomizer just enough for me to inject/pour more juice into the tank. Then vape away. Cartomizers don't last forever. For me they last about a week or so, then throw away and get a new one.

A battery can be recharged and lasts as long as how much you vape. 100mah = 1 hour of vaping time, but there are many factors to it. How much you vape, what voltage are you using, life of battery, etc...

For me a cartomizer will usually last me through about 30 ml of juice before i feel the need to wash it out, however i tend to get careless and burn them sometimes by letting them get dry :p so in that case i throw them away and start over. Yes a cartomizer replaces the atty and cartridges, so you will be screwing your cartomizer right to the battery or mod your using. You will have to fill the cartomizers yourself unless you buy then prefilled which i think will cost more than just getting a flavor you like and filling an empty carto. 510 connection is the thread type/size connection where you screw your carto or atty onto the battery...there are various types of connections, i just said 510 because it seems to be the most common.

sort of off topic, but i have been using a Silver Bullet mod with the 18650 battery for almost as long as ive been vapeing (just over 2 years). I started with a Yeti starter kit, which i think might be the same as a Riva? not sure. After i went through a few batteries i got the bullet and i really like it. I have a J tank, a sunfire tank (cheap but decent item) and then i just direct drip on a LR atty that i de-bridged when im at home..and of course i use single coil cartomizers. I have just ordered on black friday, a Provari which will be my second mod aside from the yeti kit ive ever bought. I have used my friends lava tube so i know i like variable voltage so im excited to get that sucker in the mail :D

the J tank is a "carto tank" so you would either buy slotted cartomizers that are for the j tank or whatever carto tank you buy, or you can slot them yourself which is what i do, the sunfire tank uses replaceable heads that hold the coil and they have wicks that dip down into the juice you put in it to feed the heating coil. You may want to just google images of the tanks so i dont confuse you with my bad wording lol. Basically though you slide a slotted or punched cartomizer into the tank and fill it with juice, then the slots allow the juice to wick into the cartomizer so you dont have to fill them as often, however i still find myself topping off my carto while its in the tank anyway from time to time. I am new to the tanks myself so i may not be the right guy to advise you on those.
