Hello everyone. I just had a question. I am trying to make a cotton wick for my protank out of cotton balls that I boiled twice and let dry. I am also using 32 kanthal wire. I will wrap the coil and then put the wick in. The wick then proceeds to catch on fire and turn to ash. I am not sure what I am doing wrong and cant find an answer on google. Figured I would ask here.

Are you priming the wick with juice before firing it?

What Soignee said. You can't dry fire cotton wicks or they'll go up like that. Put a couple drops of whatever juice you're gonna fill the tank with onto the coil and wick itself before you put the post back on.

Yeah you can fire a dry silica wick but not cotton.

Hi and welcome. Been there. Amazing how fast the dry cotton just disappears when dry fired.
