Ok, so I made a post about getting into mech but I pretty much scrapped my cherry bomber due to its lack of safety. I've done tons and tons upon tons of reading to see what will work, what is decent, and most importantly, what is safe. From everything I've put together, I think I might have it and would like secondary opinions if I'm good or at least on the right track. It's a plur box, digital volt readout so I can monitor my battery life, it runs the batteries in parallel, 2 efest 18650 3.7v 2500 mah batteries. If I'm correct as long as I don't go below .5ohm I should be ok, I have no need to go below that, at least at this point since I'm taking my first steps into it. Is this an acceptable settup? From what I collected it seems so. I know my batteries aren't the highest of recommendation but they should do. Thanks for any help or pointers in advance!

Welcome Ukuleland!

Just keep in mind that efests aren't necessarily as advertised. However, your limits are about where I am with my efests. Running batteries in parallel will reduce the "strain" as the current requirement will get split between the two batteries (which is why it's important that they are a "married" pair.) You don't want one battery that's weaker than the other because the current won't draw evenly.

Well seeing as how you run yours similar to mine, what's the lowest you allow your voltage to get before your in the danger zone?

I usually pull them around 3.6V That's not a "danger zone" per se, but it's my "comfort zone" :)

1: "I pretty much scrapped my cherry bomber due to its lack of safety"
That sounds like a good idea

2: "digital volt readout so I can monitor my battery life"
That sounds like a regulate mod.
Another good idea.

2 batteries in parallel?
Deadmodz - Pyrex RDA and PLURBOX - Taste The Difference
ouch.

apparently that really is a mechanical mod; and it's even for like a hundred dollars!

the trouble with parallel battery mechanical mods, is you only have to make a mistake ONCE inserting a battery the wrong way on a Friday night after a few beers.

(I actually fried a dual bay charger that way a few months ago. )

Very true, but if anybody knows anything in the vape world or outside of it, a few beers can make anything go wrong!

Ok, looking at your proposed setup, that should work and be safe with the Efest batteries. Having said that, unless you have your heart set on the PLUR, I'd seriously look elsewhere. Why buy a mechanical box mod when you could have a Segelei 150 watt variable wattage mod at the same price? If you use the Plur, and limit your atomizer to .5 and no lower, the PLUR will make no more than 35 watts. The cheapest I saw the PLUR was $70. You can buy a very nice, and much more powerful, two-battery, regulated box mod for the same money. You could also buy a very nice Temp Control mod in the 60ish watt range, nearly double what you'd get out of the PLUR, for the same money.

Now, I say all that just as food for thought. I'm not trying to talk you out of the PLUR-- it is pretty, and looks nicely built. But I think if you looked around you could find more power for less money, unless you just want a mechanical mod. I would surely understand that, I have a metric boatload of mechs myself and I love them. But the mod I'm vaping as I type is a Snow Wolf 200w TC mod. (I can recommend that one too, but it costs $100, not $70.) Just something to think about. The PLUR will be just fine and should be safe at the limits you've described.

thank you! This is exactly what I like, a reassuring response and some helpful suggestions. I'll look into some more power since I am spending the money. Thanks again!

Agree with Suprtrkr but,,, If you don't have a Mech in your Armory, AND you are researched, educated, and ready for their required Regimen, You will Want one. I love my Mechs and my SX Mini M too (Snow Wolf came in 2nd to the SX or would have that). However, you can't honestly and factually compare Mechs to Variables and make a truly definitive "Or" decision. Concerning the 2 "Genres",,, the Proper and Accurate Answer is; Yes to Both.
My usual ADV Devices for at Work are a Hollowpoint Mech loaded with a 13 Heavens & 9 Hells RDA.
Get Home, it's the SXMM with a STM (Ni200 OCC) or the Lemo 2 with Ti build in TC. Adding an ErlK to it tomorrow (anxiously awaiting its arrival) which will also sport a Ti build for TC tasty Vapes.
Outside at Home or to Town, it's either SubBox w/STM (0.5 Kanthal OCC) or a Panzer Hellfire Mech with the El Carbon RDA.
Sometimes you feel like a "Nut" (Mech Warrior)- Sometimes ya don't (Vape that Variable).
Indulge BOTH.

Lol, welcome. We aim to please. As I say, if the PLUR makes your heart flutter, by all means get one. You'll be happy, and it'll work just fine. OTOH, better buys are probably available. The Siggie 150 was the go-to mod for cloud chasers, but they're dragging their prices at insanely low levels because Sig is about to release a TC model at 150 watts and dealers are trying to clear stock before it hits. Ask me, I really do think TC is the coming thing. It's now getting much more reliable. Sig's 75 watt TC is supposed to be shipping now. Pricy, like all Sigs not on clearance, but supposedly very nice. I don't have one, but I am hearing good things about the EVIC VT. It ships in your price range with a matching color tank capable of +Ohm, Subohm and TC, depending on the coils, and is a he11uva lot smaller and lighter than a dual 18650 box, if just as powerful. That one could easily become your daily driver for ease of use, reserving fancier gear for the weekend. There are others in its class...

My friend @Hitcat44 has an excellent point as well. Mechs are fun, and can be done safely once you learn how. A point he doesn't mention, though, is mechs are quickly becoming a niche market, given the huge advances in regulated boxes. Get yourself verified, and haunt the classifieds here. We're starting to see top quality, authentic mechs in excellent condition hit the used market at a tiny fraction of their new prices.

So true Bro... Proof of your Point; I just personally sold a Philippine made Balayong Mushroom Wood Concepts dual 18650 Mech from my Armory to fund acquiring an authentic ErlK. Ended up letting it go for about 60% of its original Price. Obsessions do indeed have their Costs. But, the Benefits received from those same Obsessions of others do offset. It's Give and Take. So, Buying & Selling & Swapping here within the ECF Community is a Great Thing & Deal all around of which we all reap the Benefits,

Higher/High-End Mechs are definitely a Niche and well designed and produced ones are just as, and most times, more expensive than Variables. Check out an P.U.C (Pinoy Underground Customs) Sniper Mech Mod,,,, Bad to the Bone! Big Fan of Silver Wolf Customs Mods myself. Mechs lend themselves to the "Artsy" side of the Vape World and the Aesthetics can be absolutely amazing.

With a good set of Batts and a thoughtful Design combined with Quality Internals and Production,,, Nothing Hits like a Mech does. Differ & Debate all ya want which is fine but that is an inarguable Fact.
Still times and places where I prefer a Variable so don't misconstrue.
As I said,,, Vaping Life is truly an "And" Existence. Not an "Or".

I would say if you are happy with this PLUR, stay with it and find e-liquids you like.
Some would call me a dinosaur. Others say that I'm stuck in Reoville. But three years ago I found an indestructible mech mod and I stayed with it. Chasing the newest bright and shiny gets real expensive. Dropping a Regulated mod on concrete does too.
As far as Batteries, I only use AW IMR in all of my mods. All eleven of them.

Ok yall. so things happened.... I'm still dabbling with this plur and it is working out exceptionally for me! BUT... I did end up going to vape city (my local shop) and bought a kanger tech 50w mini for a really good price, on top of that I bought a plume veil with a .4 build and I'm LOVING IT! Thanks again and now I'm enjoying the best of both worlds.
