New to RBA's and having some problems, please help

So I just got 3 new rba's. An bulldog, a trident clone, and Igo-L. I love them all and have also purchased pre-made coils, wick, and wire to wrap my own. Here is my problem. I am trying to replace the single coil on my Bulldog. Yes it is a tiny RBA and I figured I would just go ahead and use one of the 2mm pre-wrapped coils. I insert the wires, screw down the screws and ........nothing happens. I have tried it over and over and still cannot get the coil to fire. I watched a gazillion videos on YouTube about rebuilding these f'ers, but I cannot get mine to fire. Pleas do not refer me to YouTube. Are there common problems that newbies encounter. I am thinking maybe it (coil) was touching post or side or something that shorts it out. Help please!!

If it's not a short, it might be that the center pin in your device isn't making contact with the RBA

I second this. On the rsst (not sure about the ones you mentioned ) the center post is a long screw that holds the whole thing together and also makes the positive contact. I had the issue once and felt ......ed once I realized I needed to just tighten that screw a little more to have it make contact.
