To the OP, I will tell you the same thing I told a friend's child some time back when they asked me about why people (presumably I) smoked when everybody knew it was bad.
I was young and I did something stupid. A lot of people do something stupid when they're young; unfortunately, I did something so stupid when I started smoking that I still can't stop sixteen years later. What is addiction? Well, it's very difficult to explain it to someone who hasn't ever had one, so we'll play a game instead.
Here's how the game goes: take a deep breath, and hold it (watch for the kiddo to take a big gulp of air with his/her cheeks all puffed out). Then I tell the kid, "right now, you're going to try to quit breathing." (While kiddo holds breath, I take big breaths and say "ahhh," and generally taunt him/her with how much I'm enjoying breathing the air). Eventually, the kid will give up and start breathing again, at which point I'll say, "why are you breathing again? You couldn't just quit? Well, that's what having an addiction is like. You try and try to stop, but your body thinks it needs these things like your body needed air just then."
Seriously, try holding your breath as long as you can. When you get to that feeling that is almost panicky and your lungs go to rebel and take over, that's what withdrawal feels like -- at least to me, I can't vouch for others' experiences.
If you still feel that you MUST try vaping, for the love of God use a juice or cart with NO nicotine content -- those that have it are just for feeding addictions, and you will be trapped as well if you start blissfully throwing nicotine into your body.
Ultimately, though, it's your decision -- if you want to tether yourself to a substance that is probably not as bad as a "real" cigarette but probably can't be as good for you as not doing either, don't let my experiences toss a wet blanket on your potentially self-destructive, financially bleeding impulses.
