New to Tanks - Carto Punching

OK, so I'm new to carto punching... Finally got my punch yesterday and tried to 3 hole punch a carto -- ended up deforming the carto to the point it wouldn't fit into my tank... So, my question is -- how many turns are too many and when should I start counting them... Any help would be greatly appreciated...

I usually go a half turn after hearing and/or feeling the pop of the carto being pierced. Also, I use the Siam mods v2 carto punch. Keeps cartos from deforming quite as much.

I also use the siam mods v2 punch. love it! I normally go about 1 1/4 turns after the punch goes through the carto. Perfect for me and a 50/50 blend.
