First of all it's good to find a place to discuss these things before I make the big leap from analogs. So any input is helpful to me. I'm doing my research before I make any purchases as I have only one desire for vaping and that is to get off the analogs while keeping the sensation of smoking. I bought a Blucig disposable today just to see if I would even like vaping. To be honest it's not that bad and since I bought the disposable I've only had like 5 analogs when usually almost a whole pack would be gone.

I enjoy smoking but understand the risks and dangers of it. I would like to keep the hobby/habit without as much threat to my personal well being.

I have been lurking the forums throughout the day and know there is gobs of different products, mods and everything that goes along with vaping. So here is what I am looking for:

1. Portable: I'm always on the move, I own my on tech repair business in the middle of a very rural area. I also want the unit to be the same size as a cigarette or smaller. I have seen some people vaping with some rather large getups, not for me.

2. Taste and Feel: I want to find a liquid that comes close to the throat feel and taste of the Marlboro Gold 72s I'm used to smoking. I don't want fancy fruity juices or anything "flavored", just a close enough replacement for my regular analogs.

3. A little clarification on some acronyms and terms i have seen used. PV, VV what do these mean? What is "5 click protection?" A lot of options I have looked at say (manual) on them what does this mean?

4. I have been looking at this model: eGo-T LCD Display Starter Kit (1100mAh) and think it would be a good fit for me, anyone have any opinions on these?

I would like to thank any of you in advance for any help and information you guys could toss my way. :)

Hello and welcome first off.
I would suggest looking into an ego twist starter kit(havent seen or tried the digital display). And maybe some carto tanks and a lanyard to keep it handy. PV= personal vaper VV= variable voltage and 5 click protection is a safety feature on ego style batteries. 5 clicks on/ 5 off. for when its in your pocket. and check the online vendors for a good tobacco juice. they usually have reviews on the site as well as here and youtube as far as taste vapor production etc. hope this helps a bit. I am fairly new myself, maybe someone else can or will chime in

First of all welcome to the vaping world, it will become a hobby belive me. That Ego would be a great option, i have an Ego myself that i always take with me. as far as size goes, the bigger the better in most cases, i have a variable voltage l-rider robust that is slighty and i mean slighty bigger than an Ego, it can go as low as 3 volts and as high as 6 volts. with juices i would try to find a tobacco flavored juice until your smell and taste comes back and then may try a fruity flavored juice. no juice can taste like a anolog as its not burning anything. with acronyms go vv would be variable voltage, vw= variable wattage, pv= personal vaparizer, apv= advanced personal vaperizer, a mod is a e cig with a bigger battery and some other stuff. i have been off of anologs almost a month and in the 2 days ive been in this forum i have learned so much, dont be afraid to ask questions, post that you tried to build a mod and failed because the people on this forum are great. sorry for the spelling im tired and dont spell well anyways. welcome to the forum and the vapor world!!!!

The tanks that come with that one are known for lots of problems and the battery is not VV. The atomizers that that rig uses are hit and miss and cost an arm and a leg to keep up with. I would rather see a new guy go with the Ego Twist or the vision spinner in a 650 mah size(to keep size down) than something that shows you your battery fading on the screen. It seems like you just can't go wrong with cartomizers and a tank. It just works. A lot of people will recommend clearomizers and they are a great thing when they perform properly. The problem is that sometimes they don't and that can just ruin a perfectly good day. I can post some links for the twist, tank and cartomizers if you would like me to.

I second the suggestions to get an Ego battery. It will be bigger than a cigarette, but smaller than a cigar with a cartomizer on it. You can get cartomizers instead of the 'tank' system that comes with some ego kits.

It will be different than a cigarette because it's bigger, and you have to push a button while drawing on it. However, you'll get used to it quickly and the volume and quantity of vapor will be much better (better / 'as good' as smoking) than you could ever hope to get with something the size of a cigarette. Also, the cigarette size batteries just can't hold enough charge to last very long. So the Ego sized battery will save you from having to A, constantly be recharging a little white stick throughout the day, or B, carrying 7 batteries with you all the time and charging them.

Hello, aiwasoundsystem. Welcome to ECF, and congrats on your decision to stop smoking.

Let me first comment on your proposed starter kit. Everything looks fine with the kit except for the juice delivery devices. I am not at all a fan of the 2-piece atomizer-tank cartridges. It is extremely old technology and there are much better devices available today. I looked for a better kit on the website and they all seem to contain the same delivery devices. I think you would be unsatisfied if you went with those.

Before answering your questions, let me provide you with what I believe is an ideal setup for beginners and mid-level vapors alike in this link:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/369128-what-kit-start-2.html#post8306912

And for a crash course on modern day, popular juice delivery devices, follow this link:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/cartomizers/343294-proper-terminology-carto-tank-what-lol.html#post7562212

I'll be happy to answer any questions that you may have about the information in either link above.
___________

You said that you wanted your vaping device to be the same size as a cigarette or smaller. That is an unreasonable expectation. The smallest cigalike batteries themselves are the same size as a cigarette, and once you put a delivery device on one, they are much longer than a cigarette. Also, the eGo kit that you picked out above, is the size of a cigar. I'll show a comparison of cigarette size vs mini cigarettes and eGo batteries below. Keep in mind these are the batteries only, with no juice devices on top:

Smokeless Image battery size comparisons.jpg

You will not find an e-liquid flavor that tastes like a real cigarette. It is impossible to replicate the "taste" of smoke and burning tobacco leaves in a cigarette flavor. So take my word and not waste time or money trying to find that flavor, it doesn't exist. Once people have been vaping and have successfully quit cigarettes for a week or two, the taste of a cigarette is the last thing that they want in their mouth. I speak the truth. If you keep an open mind you will be able to find a flavor other than that non-existant cigarette flavor that can allow you to quit cigarettes. You can get a reasonable throat hit from vaping.
______

PV - personal vaporizer; e-liquids are "vaporized" from a liquid to a vapor with an atomizer, or heating element.

VV - variable voltage; most basic pv batteries use a set voltage of 3.7v to vaporize the e-liquid. The more advanced pv's use a booster circuit to have the ability to adjust the voltage for lower or higher temperatures to fine tune the flavors for greater enjoyment.

5-click protection - batteries can be turned on or off by clicking the power button five times quickly. This is useful to avoid having the battery's power button accidentally pressed while in a pocket or purse.
_____

I hope that I have answered your questions adequately. Perhaps I have shaken your expectations of using an electronic cigarette, but you need truthful answers at this point. Vaping can help you quit cigarettes if you are determined to accomplish that, however, using an e-cigarette is hard work. It requires planning and diligence. Lighting up a cigarette is far too easy compared to vaping. Good luck with your search.

You can look at the E Roll but it costs a lot to keep up because those batteries are so small and it uses those expensive atomizers. People say it's close to smoking a cig though. Bad attitude has a lot of helpful info. I sometimes wonder if he is a walking vaping encyclopedia. I am not being smart. He really does know his vaping stuff.

I think some of them are pretty darn close. I use desert ship all day every day and it tastes like a cig to me. I think the 555s and the ones that are called stuff like USA Red, USA Light, Desert ship (Cammel), 7 leaf tobacco, Virginia Flu Cured and stuff like that come close. Those are the kinds of flavors I would start out with if I were you.

Ok I understand how these work now, you have a battery then a cartomizer/tank/clearomizer or which ever you choose. Is this correct? What is 1ml of juice equivelent to analog wise? If it impossible to reproduce the flavor of an analog what do the tobacco flavored juices taste like?

Correct. carto-tank/tank/clearomizer all contain a coil, just different wicking mediums. There really is no accurate way to equate e-juice to a analog. the amount of nicotine abosrbed through vaping is not as rapid as an analog, nor the same amount. Don't know what tobacco juices taste like. wanted to steer clear of that taste all together,
I started and stayed on the fruit type flavors. more enjoyable for me

Yes, what goes on top of the battery are called collectively juice delivery devices.

I don't know of an equivalent of e-liquid quantity to analog. A better comparison would be a comparison of nicotine strength in e-liquid to that of a cigarette, but I don't have that information either. I can say that the average consumption of e-liquid is between 3-5 ml a day.

It's hard for me personally to answer the question on tobacco flavors. I only smoked menthols when I used tobacco, and never tried any of the tobacco e-liquid flavors because they never interested me. I did use an Ice Menthol flavor for the first couple of weeks that was "close enough" to my menthol cigarettes to easily quit smoking, but I soon found that I much preferred coffee and fruit flavors over that.

I've read that the tobacco flavors have an aroma of a freshly opened pack of cigarettes. Some of the tobacco flavors remind vapors of cigar or pipe tobacco. More of an aroma thing, I believe, than actual "taste".

When you shop for liquids try some different ratios of PG/VG and a few different Nicotine mg levels. Too much Nic will bother your throat and mouth as well as make you nauseous and too little will give you nic fits. PG can bother your throat as well if you have too much. I will run down PG and VG for you.

PG carries flavor better, creates nearly no vaper, and gives great throat hit.

VG Mutes flavor,Creates plumes and has way less throat hit.

These are the reasons to try and find a happy medium of the two. Higher nicotine mgs also gives more throat hit.
Also most of us vape at least 2 mls of liquid a day. Some vape up to 10 mls a day.
