Hello everyone! This is my first post... w00t! I'm a relatively new vaper. I've been vaping for two weeks now. I had 2.5 tobacco cigs
the first week and none in the past week. I feel like I am doing great and am really enjoying the vaping experience. I was a pack-
plus-a-day smoker for the last 27 years. Just for fun, I thought I'd make a kind of log of the things I've learned or experienced
thus far. Here are a few things I've found:
--It's better to talk to someone before buying than trying to research online.
There is way too much info online and some of it is conflicting. And all of it is confusing to the brand-newbie; my first purchase was some disposables from V2. That's only a hair less expensive than smoking! I then got into contact with a relative of a friend who pointed me in a better direction and I got an Ego-T starter kit. I couldn't be happier with the Ego system and have stashed the disposables away for emergencies. I currently use the attys and cartriges a little, the cartomizers a bit more and the clearomizers a lot. I'm sure as I "mature" in my vaping experience, I will graduate to some of the cooler options!
--As fun as it is, trying every flavor that catches your fancy or ones you think you'll like is *expensive*!
I read through pages of the "your top 5 e-juice vendors" posts and I went crazy with buying. I got everything that sounded remotely delicious and then some. Plus, I was so afraid that I'd want tobacco smokes that I bought every tobacco flavor that caught my eye as well... and got them all in 24mg so I wouldn't crave a cancer stick. So far, I have about 8 bottles of e-juice that I'm sending to that relative of a friend in case he likes them, because I found them icky. Also, 24mg is too high for me (I tend to vape all day long) so I had to re-buy all of my favorite flavors again in a lower nicotine level. Needless to say, my tax refund is GONE.
--If you're going to boil your cartomizers, for the love of Pete, don't forget that they're on the stove.
OK, I admit it, that was just plain bone-headed of me. So I totally owe my roomate one new small pot. LOL
--Don't try to fill the tip-cartridge-thingies from the bottle like they show in the Ego manual.
Unless you love cleaning up a huge mess and don't care how much juice you waste! I didn't have any blunt-tip needles handy, so I
sanitized some empty 1 ml syringes. I am now to the point where I almost never make a mess when filling with those...
--Don't take the "you need to drink lots of water" thing lightly!
The first few days of vaping my mouth and throat were so blessedly dry I thought I was going to croak. <-- See what I did there? *groan* Anyway, I cannot stress the importance of keeping hydrated with e-cigs enough. Now I easily drink 3 liters of water at work and a few 20 oz. bottles while at home. I feel a whole lot better because of it. 'Course I'm in the bathroom every hour now...
--People get all proud of you for getting off of cigarettes.
I keep trying to explain that I'm still a nicotine addict, but they insist on showering me with praise and asking how it's going and
how I'm feeling. Um, I feel fine, I'm still getting my fix... But, it is nice when they say that stuff; it shows they care.
--It's superfun to vape *inside*!!
I've never smoked in my house and definitely not inside at work (that would be illegal). Colorado went all non-smoking in 2006, so
being able to puff on something in a nice, cozy, warm room when it's blizzarding outside and the temperatures are in the single
digits is just. freaking. awesome. I can vape at work too, even though I still go outside on my breaks when it's nice, just to be
outside. Funnily enough, I still have an irrational fear that my tobacco-flavored vapes will stink up the joint!
--I've become a bit evangelical since I started vaping.
No, I don't care what religion you are or are not. I preach the vapes, baby! A whole lot of my closest friends are smokers and I've
been filling 'em up with vapor love! Hallelujah! I am tar and carcinogen free people! If I, or anyone else for that matter, want to
decrease the nicotine and eventually quit, well, that's totally each individual's business. For now I'm happy as a clam to be off of
the big stinkies.
Thank you all for listening and for such a wonderful community that I am pleased to be a new part of.
