New To Vaping from AZ!

Hey guys! I am new to the vaping scene. I got sick of the rude comments in public (AZ is NOT a smoker friendly place), the smell lingering on my clothes, and the obvious health risks. I am currently vaping with the eGo 450mAh battery and am using the Vivi Nova 2.0ml tanks with the 2.4ohm wicks. I have been trying ALOT of new flavors, and have settled on Starburst and Hypnotic Mist from Freedom Smoke USA. I did a lot of research on this site prior to switching, and I'm glad that I did!! I found that I prefer a 30/70 ratio, as I like the bigger vapor clouds! I am still working my way off the analogs. Every once in a while I find myself craving one. I always go for the eCig first. I find it most difficult when I am out with friends, but I have converted two of my closest friends already! I'm looking forward to my new lease on life!
One question: I'm not a heavy smoker (half pack a day), so I don't even go through one tank a day. I have two tanks that are loaded with different flavors, and I find that if I neglect one tank, the juice turns brownish and the throat hit is too harsh. Anything I can do to minimize this? Will it alter the vape if I only fill the tank to 1.0ml?
Thanks for helping me through this transition guys!

Welcome to the forums and congrats on the switch.

As far as your juice goes, it will turn no matter how much you fill it. If you don't need the second tank, just don't fill it. Or, make sure you switch tanks. I carry 6 filled clearos with me and rotate through them during the day.

thanks for the reply!! I definitely don't appreciate the brown juice, so I will be sure to carry empty tanks!!

Welcome to the journey of vaping!! You will find the craving for regular cigs to start to taper off for a while. Soon after that, when you get the craving for a regular cig, you will just automatically reach for your e-cig instead. Then after a while of that, you won't even want to have an actual cig because you won't be able to stand the smell of regular cigs anymore.

Howdy and welcome to the ECF! It kinda sucks that I just saw your post as today was the monthly Phoenix Metro Vapers get together. I get off on walking into a room with 75ish vapers and seeing well over 200 different e-cig setups. There's a page with the date/time/location of next months get together and I'll send it to you when I get home to my computer. Again Gz on making the switch to e-cigs!

That would be awesome!! Everytime I go into the local vape shops here in tucson, I see it packed with people, and I would love to meet more vapers in the area!!

Welcome! And great job making the switch.
I've been on and off for a year and a half or so, but vaping only for a month today.
The thing that kept me from the analogs was taking my usual smoke breaks at work, but vaping instead.
I kept a half pack of analogs for the first two weeks tucked away atop a floor joist in my basement.
I knew they were there, but it took a hell of a lot more work to get to them than it did to a PV.

That's what really worked for me.
As long as you're ready, making the switch just gets easier every single day.

Howdy and welcome brooke.wildcats!

Concerning the brown juice, a little tid-bit I picked up here at ECF is that you may be using too low a voltage. If the voltage is too low the juice is boiled versus vaporized and this leaves behind a residue on your coil. After a while this residue seeps back into the juice and is, well nasty. This happened to me, I am using cotton wicks so I thought I should use a lower voltage to not burn the cotton. Turns out this led to the above situation. Upping the voltage solved this for me. Since you are using an ego (no issue it just does not have a variable voltage) I would suggest a lower Ohm wick. Try a 1.8 Ohm and see if you get the same issue. I still use an ego a lot with 1.5 to 1.8 Ohm coils and they work out really well.

Again Welcome and have fun!

that's a really great idea!! i currently have half a pack of analogs left. Maybe i'll leave them in my car when I'm inside, and inside when i'm in the car. haha. it would be a lot easier to reach for my PV than going all the way downstairs to the car. lol

I will definitely give this a go! each vivi nova kit I got had the three different wicks, so maybe i'll play around with those a little bit. i clean my coils and wicks when i change flavors, and i dry burn them afterwards to rid any moisture or water that is left. the coils look quite silver as the kit is rather new, but I will definitely keep my eye out! Thanks for the advice and the welcome! I look forward to my time as a vaper. haha

Another issue with gunk in your liquid, though stated above it does sound like you are not getting proper temp in watts to burn the liquid properly so move down to either 1.5-1.8 ohm coils or 2.0-2.2 ohms on your coils. Next is basic maintenance on the coils, after couple days, especially with high VG, dark, or very sweet juices, gunk collects on the coils as carbon residue. Rinsing in warm water thoroughly to clean the wicks fully out, then dry burning the coils once a week minimum extends the life of your heads. Another way is to soak in cheap vodka or everclear once a week, and then doing a dry burn helps immensely.

If you really need several flavors in rotation, double up the number of attachments, like tanks you have on hand (ie 3 flavors = 6 attachment tanks), that way you got tanks filled and being used as well as tanks cleaned, drying/dried, and ready to be put into use every couple days, that or have extra heads on hand ready to be swaped out at each cleaning of your tanks. Might also look into couple drip attys at home, and maybe some blank cartomizers on hand for emergencies when you can't afford spare coil heads and such. Once you get really going into vaping, it sucks to turn and "Oops, no back up battery or attachment to vape with", and the next thing you know, you down at the nearest circle k getting a pack of stinkys.

Anyway, welcome to the ECF, and good luck on your vaping and quitting stinkies =)

*Edit*
When dry burning remember to fire in 2 second intervals until the coil glows red evenly across the whole surface to make sure you are fully getting the coil cleaned.
