I second that about the EVOD is VERY reliable for safe e-liquid flavors (no heavy citrus and no cinnamon flavors or it cracks the mouth piece). Protank is the next best (has Pyrex glass tank, safe for ANY flavor) but the Protank occasionally leaks or dry hits and has a very airy draw that needs to be reduced with an air flow regulator. best beginner battery to have would be the eGo Twist (the higher mAh, the longer bat life). Clouds of Vapor have great starter kits and their e-liquid is awesome (my fav. COV4RY4). good luck. Vape on.

Just out of curiosity, why a tank system? I started with cartos and tanks too, but I picked up an IGO-L for $20 at my local store and I would highly recommend it to beginning vapers (of which I am DEFINITELY one) because...

E-Juice!!!! I've only been vaping a few weeks and I haven't found a juice that I can vape on all day... I filled my tank and got sick of the flavor (sunkist from lush vapors) after a quarter of the tank. Then I bought honeydew melon, same thing... peach snapple, same thing... trying the flavor once or twice in the store is completely different from vaping an entire tank, at least for me. Plus all the stores in my area rebuild atomizers for me, so I don't have to worry about learning how to rebuild the atomizer myself (although I definitely want to!)

That being said, if you have already found a good juice that you can vape on for an entire tank, the MVP is a sick system... One of my friends just picked that up as his first vape and I'm pretty jealous!

We first ordered a knock off with the starduster as part of the kit. We have done the atomizer thing and, nope did not work. We are wanting to go carto, or something similar. As for e-liquids, we have 2 all day vapes and are on the lookout for more. There is not a vape store in our area, or I would be there every day, all day until we had everything to make our experience Epic every time.

I know one thing if these cheap knock off tanks have lasted 2 weeks of my vaping constantly. I am going to be super happy with a more shall we say more known and better designed system.
Try an iclear 30,made by innokin. They have 2 coils instead of one and are rebuild able (very easily I might add) ecigarsenal.com sells the and are GREAT to deal with. And after a couple more upgrades (which you most certainly will do lol) go check out Issack at ikenvape.com . He has the absolute BEST cartomizers around! Cheap too. Also like someone else mentioned , go with the joyetech Ego twist battery. You'll love it.

If you are going to stick with ego type battery I too suggest the Kanger Evod and T3 with 1.8 ohm coil heads. If you get a VV device you can use a higher ohm value coil head. I use the Kanger ProTank with my bigger battery VV APV's. Good luck and I hope you have as good as success as I've had. I have been vaping 3 1/2 years without smoking and I smoked for over 50 years.:)
