I recently bought a Smoktech Zmax v2, and a kangerpro tank 2 and I'm having some troubles setting it up. I got it to vape but it seems kinda weak. I have bought cheaper e-cigs and it seems to be on par with them. On higher settings I get a nasty hurting taste as well, any help would be appreciated.

Well you've certainly jumped in the deep end. We need to know what resistance the coil is, and what voltage/wattage you are trying.

The Protank will produce heaps more vapour than a cigalike, but you have to run it at the Kanger recommended settings and let it do its thing. It may take between 1 and 2 mls for the coil to "run in". You just have to be a little gentle with it. Burning the coil early on can have a bad effect on how well it works.

I would swap the head out since it seems you've had some dry hits (the burny-hurty stuff) and take your time with running it in. Have a look at this blog and see if it helps at all:

Hmmm, third time I've posted that link today...

Ah I get it, okay I set the the voltage to 4.5 and the Smoktech is telling me the resistance is 2.7 and in the book it says that's okay. Now what I'm wondering is that did I already ruin the coil by trying to run it at higher settings?

2.7 ohms is on the high side of standard I'd say. Although I'd be rocking it at 5 volts with that resistance. As has been said, you may have luck with just changing out the head.

BTW, 'draw' is how hard you have to draw on your ecig while bringing the vapor into your mouth. I guess it would be called drag on a cig.

I ask because not getting enough air flow to the coil is a quick way to get a burnt taste. If the draw is tight, this could be the problem.

Probably not ruined, but you need to buy it a drink... Drop it in a shot glass with some vodka to clean it. Try a new coil, and start at the lowest possible voltage, get it vaping, be sure the coil is wet. Then sneak up the voltage a tenth or two at a time until it tastes good. Don't worry about numbers, get it to taste good, vape good.:) Starting low allows your draws to pull in more juice and ensure the coil if wet enough.

Not ruined exactly, but it may taste a little off and may also not produce as much vapour. I'd actually recommend the voltages on the table in the blog I linked to for 2.7 ohms - 4.0 to 4.2 volts. This is more in line with the recommendations Kanger give for lower ohms. Stick with the lower voltages until you really get to know the device and how it is supposed to run, as per the blog.

I'd say swap the head out and try again, being a bit more gentle with it. Make sure you check the resistance again for the new head and adjust accordingly if necessary.
