i wouldn't say somethin like the elite 808 is a waste of money. you can find 2 reviews by outstandin members of this community that put this on par or better than some fat bats for vapor and TH. comes with 2 batts, 5 cartos, charger and juice for 50 bucks.

i suggested it because maybe the OP says size doesn't matter, meaning home use, but doesn't want to walk around in public carryin a flashlight or a juice box =p

the elite 808 has plenty of battery to last from wake up to bed time, and the 2ml cartos hold plenty of juice too.

Actually I was not referring to your post. But I have used 15 different models including 808's and every other common 3.7 volt device. There is no way they can compare to the warmth of vapor or consistency of a good, regulated 5 volt model, plain and simple. And no small battery model will last the 17 hours you claim unless you are only using it about once an hour for 5-10 minutes. I use my PV (VV) about every 10 minutes and get 21+ hours on a charge. You cannot change the physics of battery composition or performance. mAh ratings and performance have been extensively tested. But if looks are more important than performance, then a small battery model is the way to go.

Note: the average amount of liquid used daily from many polls on this and other sites is 3-5ml. So if 2ml is all you use, it confirms you are a very light user and thus not typical. No small battery model can last even 5 hours for the average user.

Wow, I wasn't expecting so many responses. The information is overwhelming, but I read through all the responses and did some research.

Seems that the consensus is that you cannot get the same buzz as a cigarette because a cigarette asphyxiates you while an e cig does not. That's fine by me, something I will miss, but it'll be for the better.

Here's my updated list, I've added one item.

  • Heavy hit and lots of vapor
You get this with high volts and low resists, which creates more heat and vapor correct?

  • Long lasting battery
Battery is important to me because with my work, I sometimes only get nightly opportunities to charge up.

  • Easily change flavors.
I would like to able to change out flavors on a whim, so cartomizers are a bad idea correct?

  • Easy maintenance and durability.
While easy maintenance is lower on the ladder, it's always nice to have something easy to prep and ready to go. I want something sturdy too; something that can sit in my cargo pocket while withstanding the heat and cold. I'm sure a case would be the best solution to this.

@Ww2012
I looked up a review on the GLV-2, and it looked very promising. The reviewer said it would be able to last him a little bit past a day. Seems like the 306 atomizer heats better than a 510 and has more taste. This definitely is one of my choices.

@dormouse
Thanks for filling me in on my o2.
It was hard to do research on those popular brands. I got mixed reviews, some saying battery life was great, some saying otherwise. It would make since for smaller profile e cigs to have shorter battery life than bigger ones. I'm going to take your advice and go with larger models with bigger batteries and low resists.

@NoMatches
To be in the best shape, I'll need my lungs; yes, I want to quit. Only thing I'll miss are the morning and late night cigs, those were always the best.

@hiram13pm
I would love to just toy around with all sorts of models, but I can't jsut drop cash on all sorts of models and play around. My o2 currently is not cutting it; it is inconsistent with vapor, and when I do get nice hits, it's not that good. I did buy it at 7-11 though, so how can I complain? Your suggestion for a high volt low resist piece sounds spot on to me, that's what I think I'll end up getting.

@Boodle
Those are really nice looking e cigs, and if they last as long as you say, I might be getting a KGO. But what do you recommend, the KGO or the GLV2 and the 306? you also got me thinking about carts and atomizers vs cartomizers.

@BardicDruid
Yeah, I think I'll just drop the nicotine. I thought it was the nicotine that gave you the buzz, but I was informed by a couple of posts that that is not the case.

@STLBluesNut
The reviews for the Elite 808 say that it has really sort battery life; what is your take on it?
Size doesn't matter to me because I'll normally have it in my cargo pocket and I don't mind if people see me using it in public.

@wv2win
That seems to be the idea running through my head; large battery with high volts. But I'm confused about the correlation between volts and ohms. Is it high volts with low ohms creates more heat and vapor?

@Willieb69
Yup! I believe I will be looking for a high volt piece.

@emus
Do you have any suggestions on a high quality VVPV? Does DC mean direct current, meaning I would be suing it through a pass through? The Darwom is a nice VVPV right?

@GoneWiththeWind
Wow, that looks like a really nice piece, but I can't find one for sale anywhere! This looks like a contender to the GLV-2.

I'm on the fence about the Darwin and the GLV-2 5V. I like that the Darwin has adjustable voltage, but I can't find any sites that have them in stock.

I want a 306 atomizer, because of the review I saw that said it produced more vapor and was hotter than his 501, but would it fit on a Darwin? (I've read they're the same thread size, is this true?) Is it the ohms that matter or is there a difference between 306 and 501 not considering their ohm rating.

A bit of info I want to clarify; the battery provides the Volts and Amperes per hour, while the cartomizer/atomizer provides the Ohms. High volts with low ohms creates more vapor and heat, but uses up battery. Am I right?

Nicotine and the buzz, asphyxiation seems to be the culprit, but what about dip? I've only done it once, but when I did, it was a fatty piece. I sat in my little corner and mellowed out. Then I threw up, but is it the nicotine in dip that gives you that feeling?

I've spent too much time on this post, gotta get some rest. Sorry if it's too long of a read, I just haven't gotten this involved in a topic in a long time. Thanks for reading.

VVPV is a variable volt PV. VV is very useful because it can accommodate different resistance attys/cartos.
Using a LR atty at high volts will burn the liquid; VV allows easy tuning.
I made a cheap fused VVPV using madvapes regulator kit; works great w/ NiMN batts.
Try to get one that handles at least 5 amps if you choose VV.

DC means dual coil carto; 1.6ohm DC w/ 12mg liquid produces mild throat hit at 3.7v, firm at 4.2v and powerful at 5v.
DC lasts about 1 to 4 hours on one fill; they are small so a few can be carried to work.

My all day is stainless steel 3ohm CE2 at 3.7v w/ 12mg liquid. Produces firm TH, massive clouds, not a batt or juice hog, lasts me several hours on one fill. Not as powerful as DC at 4.2v.

  • Heavy hit and lots of vapor

You want to go high volts or low resistance. Putting the two together will fry your atty or cartomizer or trip the saftey on your 5V mod if it has one. If it doesn't, you might fry the batteries or the mod as well. Low resistance with a 3.7 e-cig will give you ALMOST the same vape as a 5V with standard resistance attys or cartos.

  • Easily change flavors.
I would like to able to change out flavors on a whim, so cartomizers are a bad idea correct?
Actually, cartos would make it easier. Just keep several filled with different flavors so all you have to do is unscrew one and screw another on. Boom.... Good to go.

  • Easy maintenance and durability.
While easy maintenance is lower on the ladder, it's always nice to have something easy to prep and ready to go. I want something sturdy too; something that can sit in my cargo pocket while withstanding the heat and cold. I'm sure a case would be the best solution to this.
I'd look into metal tube mods then.
Something like the Bullet, the Chuck, the Bombshell, and several others out there.

I'm on the fence about the Darwin and the GLV-2 5V. I like that the Darwin has adjustable voltage, but I can't find any sites that have them in stock.
Darwins are a hot ticket item right now. Might be awhile to get one.

A bit of info I want to clarify; the battery provides the Volts and Amperes per hour, while the cartomizer/atomizer provides the Ohms. High volts with low ohms creates more vapor and heat, but uses up battery. Am I right?
I repeat, you do NOT want to mix high volts with low ohms. You will toast your gear.
There are some high voltage mods out there that might handle it but not many.

but what about dip? I've only done it once, but when I did, it was a fatty piece. I sat in my little corner and mellowed out. Then I threw up, but is it the nicotine in dip that gives you that feeling?
Nicotine is actually an upper but the brain sees it as "instant gratification" so it gives you that happy feeling and can calm the nerves. You threw up because you swallowed the juice. ;)

Okay, so now I understand that it's about your Wattage, rather than just your Volts or Ohms.

Would the Provari be a metal tube mod? It seems that the Provari and Darwin are the top contenders at the moment. Darwin's are also sold out at the moment and I'd really like to get a nice piece as soon as possible.

I'm leaning away from the Darwin right now because the fact that you can't swap batteries on them, that's a bummer.

In the wonderfully done comparison between the Provari and the Darwin by GeekGirlVaper, she had a tank thing on her piece, what is that called and what does it do?

It's funny, the more research I do, the more questions I have. I was looking up info on the Darwin, which lead me to the Provari, which lead me onto the VV Army Tank, then to bottom feeders. It's a lot to try to take in and comprehend!

So much info to look into; I think I'll sleep on it and see if I have more questions.

Something a bit less expensive than the Darwin and Provari is the RoughStack from Madvapes. It is not variable voltage, but the standard model puts out a true 3.7 volts (actually 4.2 volts) on a fully charged battery. The RoughStack is a solid, well made PV. The starter kit comes with 2 batteries and a charger. 1 battery should get you through your shift at work.

Combine that with some Boge LR 2.0 ohm cartomizers, some 24mg juice, and you will get plenty vapor and throat hit.

With cartomizers you can easily change flavors by filling up a couple or 3 with your favorites. Simply unscrew one carto and screw on the new one.

I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon and start yelling out the names of everything I use. It looks like you have your homework. Now go to it. I concur that a half decent PV with good juice and strong batts will knock the analog retention right out of ya'! Welcome to the forum. Hope you find what works for you, but I will tell you that you're going to have to try different things and spend some time at it. No one PV or equipment will work for everyone. It's your job to figure out what will and won't work for you.

As far as having one or two analogs a day...no big deal. Don't sweat it. With good equipment you'll be off of 'em before you know it.

Provari is a popular VV tube mod.
My cheaper VVPV doesn't have a built it volt meter.
I rarely connect multimeter to check voltage; cool to know voltage but not required.
Integrated volt meter is handy but not necessary; a luxury.
Vaping w/o voltmeter like driving car w/o speedo; not hard.

VVPV is a luxury also; great if your not sure what wattage works for you.
Once you fine tune your wattage w/ VVPV it is easier to select a single batt setup to suit your needs.

The hunt is the fun part. Enjoy the ride and the search for the perfect vape for you.

Vaping is definitely preferable to smoking, IMHO. Try getting stronger juice, and experiment with some other equipment. As a general rule, the more a PV looks like an actual cigarette, the worse it will perform & the shorter the battery life will be. My "sweet spot" is a 3.7v box mod with a boge 2 ohm (low resistance) cartomizer, and juice I mix at between 20-25mg... I started at 25mg & have recently been lowering that in tiny increments. Yours may be different, or similar, or exactly the same... but I'm sure with some persistence you'll find it.

As little as you smoke, a cig-sized unit might actually work for you... I'm not sure of the specs of your current piece, but here are a few tweaking options you might think about:

Finding a unit with a higher voltage, and/or higher maH battery.
Lowering the resistance of the coil, or going to "dual coil" cartos.
Increasing the mg of nicotine in the juice.

Keep experimenting; you'll figure it out.

I'm just glad to see people pointing out the fact that the 'buzz' from analogs is actually your bodies response the being choked. All things aside, it IS fight or flight. That buzz is nothing more than an adrenalin response to asphyxiation from the chemicals. We enjoyed the relaxing qualities of analogs because we were coming off an adrenalin rush. Think I'm off? Go skydiving. You are completely relaxed minutes after landing. This is a much larger scale, but it will prove my point.

I wish you luck in your search. It was my choice to quit smoking. I feel great and I'm not going back. I enjoy vaping, while it may not be for everyone. Sure, it's going to cost me a little scratch looking for my personal vaping perfection, but again, it's my choice.

The people here are great and we're going to give our opinions. But, ultimately, it's all up to you and how bad you want to enjoy your run.

I think you may be thinking about this the wrong way. E-cigs are never going to be exactly like smoking. It is a safer alternative but It will never feel exactly like smoking. Smoke is heavy with tar and burning hot, vapor can't duplicate that heaviness or heat. You have to realize that it is a trade off. You trade that heaviness and heat for you health!! You can get close though. I usually don't recommend that people buy more equipment but in your case I think you need a better e-cig to help satisfy you. I would recommend a Riva (liberty-flights) with a low resistance carto (1.7's from crystalclearvaping) and 36mg e-liquid. The Riva is a stronger battery then you currently have, it also will last all day. It is a bit bigger then a cigarette but you get used to it quick. The lr cartos produce more heat and thicker vapor and feels more like smoking and has little maintenance and to change flavors you just grab a different carto. I think that it is easier to switch to vaping with a strong e-liquid. It wasn't until I got some 36mg liquid that I was truly happy vaping. I really hope you stick with it, remember you are investing your time and money in your health, it sometimes takes a while to find what equipment works for you. Vaping is a very individualized thing you just have to stick with it until you find what works for you! Best of luck to you and welcome to ECF!! :)

You're doing a great job though!
:)

It is really hard to learn and understand all of this stuff until you get an electronic cigarette in your hands.
Then everything you're reading about will start to make a lot more sense.

But as I said, you're doing great already.

Yes, the 306 fits on anything that a 510 fits on, they have the same threading.
Personally, I like 510s much better than 306s because drip tips fit better on them.

My advice? Dont't get vape juice labeled as menthol (something to simulate a menthol cigarette to be exact). I used to smoke menthols and I haven't found one that tastes just like a cig. Close, but not the same. It ruined vaping for me. It wasn't until I discovered Rawr Vapor that vaping is not the same as smoking. I had read some reviews on Mike's liquid and decided to try a few small bottles out. WOW is all I can say! I have a bottle of Hawaii Sunrise with a cool menthol shot and it is awesome. It tastes nowhere near smoking an analog but it is sooooo much more enjoyable. It makes vaping for me a much better experience.

I guess my point is that not only is the hardware important, but also the juice. Find something you will enjoy vaping day in and day out. Dont settle for something that kinda tastes like what you smoke.

Just to clarify for my own satisfaction. I am not saying there is not a vendor out there who sells an e-liquid that feel just like smoking a menthol analog. I am just stating I have never found one.

When I started I, too was looking to replace as much of the analog taste and experience as possible. Now-a-days I don't want anything that tastes like those nasty things. :nah:

Take the roughstack and add a 4.8v battery and charger...vaping at it's finest. madvapes sells these PVs, batteries, and chargers for the 4.8V batteries.

Another VV PV that you should consider is the BuzzPro by notcigs.com. I have 5 of their classic models and 1 Pro. Best VV PV in my opinion. Buzzkill stands behind his products and customer service can't be beat.
