So I'm fairly new to vaping. Like most I'm doing this to quit smoking cigarettes. I've used the pen styles one on and off before but they never really did the trick for me. I was suggested to try the kangertech topbox mini starter kit, so I went out and got one. I'm using the SS coil and using it between 20w- 35w typically with a 6mg nicotine juice. My issue is that it is VERY different using this, I also seem to be getting a lot of spit back like popping and sometimes it pops and burns in my mouth. Another thing is that it seems to be very unpleasant to other people in public (even though they don't mind the ciggarete smoke lol) so any suggestions would help, and any advice on what settings to use this on to not piss off people lol cause I like to smoke a lot (was almost a 2 pack a day smoker) I'm also not use to the straight lung hits, I know it's all about what's best for the user, but suggestions would help and I didn't get much when I bought it. Thanks in advance for any help!

When I'm out in public I try and blow vapor towards the ground. also mindful of anyone behind me incase the wind is blowing to them. After doing all this if they still have an attitude, well I don't care lol. as far as spit back you can try lowering the wattage down and picking up a higher nic juice. it might just be a bad coil to. if your noticing it pops when you haven't taken a vape in a while just fire the first hit away from you. I do this when I'm to lazy to rebuild or fix a coil. its usually the first fire.

I suggest a 12mg nic and a lower wattage. Remember that when you lower the nic, you increase the wattage and the vapor in order to get the same amount of nic. If you don't want to make a lot of vapor (and go through a lot of juice), then you lower the wattage and increase the nic to compensate. The perfect setup for me is a provari 2.5 and a kayfun mini v3 and 12mg juice. Inexpensive to buy, easy to use and much cheaper to run. I think all new vapers should use a setup like this before delving into the higher wattage stuff.

Even though tobacco smoke is more ghastly and harmful than our vapes, yeah, sure, some folks are not gonna like the scents we leave behind. Heck! There are some flavours we each do not like at all ourselves. Try to be as respectful as possible and give those complainers as much space as possible. Lower wattage along with shorter puffs and fast and low exhales will all help. As well as holding the vape in for 2 or 3 seconds.

Often if they don't notice you taking a vape and blowing a cloud nothing is said.

If the vape sits for a period of time the wick will become over saturated, also if you are power hitting it the juice will get very warm and much thinner and increase the flow to the wick. Running with a decreased airflow will also pull more liquid into the wick. Each of these will contribute to the spitback issue.

There are drip tips available with anti spitback features built into them. Not sure how effective any of them are though.
Surely they would help to minimize it some.

    Welcome to ECF!!! Cheers.

    Try changing juice.
Many juices with lots of sweetener will pop and spit back more.
I vape a Honey Tobacco tobacco juice that tastes great, but I'm told it smells like cat pee.
I save that one for the garage.
Haha yeah I had a Tobacco and hazelnut one that everyone told me smelled like dirty feet and old books, didn't bother me though lol

    Welcome @Miken44!

To your last question, try Tapatalk? I've used that before on my Android phone (however, I actually just prefer using my Google browser instead.)

To your earlier questions, Yes, you're headed for a completely different vape experience with the topbox. Do you know the resistance of the coil? I usually get popping and spitback if I'm running a little hot (I like cooler/arier vapes) or if my coil is a little flooded. I'm currently running a 0.5Ω coil in a Kanger subtank Nano this morning, but I'm only running about 19W. No pops or spits.

Depending on the juice - you didn't mention the PG/VG ratio. VG will be "cloudier" than PG (especially with this kind of setup), so you might consider a different blend?

For less "lung-y" hits, you might consider something like an eGo ONE tank. They're a slightly tighter draw (but a lot better than the older pen-style toppers.) You may have to "play" a bit with some different toppers and/or juice to find your vaping nirvana.... You might also use one of the higher-ohmmed coils and tone down the power? These days, there are SOOOOOOO many choices.....

    Good Luck.

The juice is a 20pg- 80vg.. the coil is a .5 but it is reading as .6 in the topbox. I do enjoy the hotter hits, I guess that's just what I'm use to on my old one it was a right draw and a warm hit and it was mouth to lung so getting use to it being a cooler bigger lung hit is strange. Thanks for the recommendations.
