Just got my eGo yesterday. I'm totally blown away, kind of thought it would be a gimmick, but it seems to work really well.

Just had a few quick questions.

1. How long should the prefilled carts last? And should i refill them with the juice i have?
2. How many "drags" do you take in one sitting? I counted on an analog and it was about 14 drags before i tossed it. That seems excessive on the eGo.
3. Should i just toss the carts and use the empty one and simply drip directly onto the atty?

Lastly, I didn't vape too hard last night after getting it, but I kinda felt crappy afterwards, lungs/throat hurt a bit. Never had that feeling with an analog. Anyone else have that happen?

Thanks for any advice!

A cart will work well at first. After a few uses, it will quit wicking well and you'll have to top off more often. Just look for dry feeling in your vape, and you'll know to add some more drops. Also search blue foam mod in the forum. People prefer the blue foam over the factory polyfill. I'm not a big fan of carts, I think they mess with taste personally.

I'm kinda at a loss on how many drags you'll get per filling. I'd just say look for that dry feeling, and you'll know. Takes a bit of practice lol. But it will be second nature before to long.

I'd say toss the carts and just drip 2 or 3 drops right on the atty for about 6 or 7 hits, then repeat.

The vape will dry you up! Drink lots of water to avoid this feeling. Also, play around with diff juices.

Good luck!!

DrunkenMick,

Welcome to the forums! and Welcome to vaping. As for your questions. Your carts depend on life on the amount you are vaping. More vaping less lifetime of them. I have reused prefilled carts before without any issue. As for amount of Drags, I find that I vape a bit less persay at one time but more so throughout the day. I am able to sit at my desk at work and take a few drags put it down go about my business then drag a few more times a bit later. Compared to lighting an analog and smoking it fully til its gone.

A lot of people straight Dip. That is not my personal preference so I really can't suggest it or say not to do it. It is a personal option.

When I started vaping my lungs and throat were a bit sore. Have to remember for me at least, I was inhaling a bit harder then I normally did with analogs and also with the vaper your throat gets dry, so have a drink close by when you are sitting vaping for any period of time. I suggest a nice glass of 10 year old Bourbon, but hey that is just me :)

There are just my findings when I started, there are many highly experienced people here that can probably get more in depth with their answers then I have. But wanted to give you some thoughts from a new vaper person like yourself.

Congratulations!

I vape A LOT more than I smoked because it's so enjoyable and so amazing! I've never used the pre filled carts - I just get the empty cartomizers and fill 'er up! That lasts an hour or two....when it starts tasting 'cottony', time for some more drops.
Cartos (mega's when they're in-stock!) with a drip tip is my vape of choice.

Maybe you're vaping too strong of nicotine mg? I haven't had any throat problems. Maybe also too high in PG liquid? Sometimes an 80/20 PG/VG ratio or even 60/40 is good. I happen to be happy with 80/20. Nice vapor, good TH. How much did you smoke before?

There are a lot of adjustments and tweaks till you get to your sweet spot but it is SO well worth the trouble.

1. How long should the prefilled carts last? And should i refill them with the juice i have?

The prefilled carts don't last very long at all and you should refill them with your juice. You can take the white filling out and wash it under some hot water, then dry it in a paper towel if the mixing of flavors is a problem. I highly suggest the blue foam mod if you continue with carts.

Vaping is not like analogs. It is always lit, some days I just vape constantly, other days I just take a hit here and there when I need it. Basically, if you feel you need a few hits, just do whatever feels right for you. It may cause you some problems to limit yourself when trying to switch from analogs. You will learn what works for you. My advice is just to vape until you feel satisfied, this is different for everyone.

3. Should i just toss the carts and use the empty one and simply drip directly onto the atty?
You can drip by that method it may be easier for you than to keep refilling carts. However, it is a bit more powerful and concentrated vape. You may wait a few days until your body is more conditioned to vaping. I wouldn't just toss the carts though. I was a cart person in the beginning but now I drip most of the time, you may be someone that likes carts as time goes on.

Lastly, I didn't vape too hard last night after getting it, but I kinda felt crappy afterwards, lungs/throat hurt a bit. Never had that feeling with an analog. Anyone else have that happen?

Your lungs are not used to the vapor, they are used to having tons of smoke in them. It may be uncomfortable for the first week or so. I coughed and hacked terribly the morning after I recieved my PV when I took my first vape of the day. This will pass and you will find that you can breathe much easier in the coming weeks.

Wow. Thanks everyone! Yall are an informative bunch :D

I was about a pack a day smoker prior, and i quit cold turkey about 2 weeks ago (Hence what prompted me to order an eGo) and knew, yet again, that I was not going to be able to make it.

Hopefully the eGo is the trick to getting me off smoking completely.

Thanks again, i'm sure i'll have more questions soon :toast:

I am a very recent convert as well and I have found that I vape more than I smoked when I am idle, however now instead of taking that smoke break, I take one drag off the eGo and keep on working/playing/etc. As for the throat irritation, I think some of that depends on what type of smoker you were before. If you were someone who inhaled deep then the vapor likely won't mess much with you, but if you were a smoker who tended to just hold it in their mouth and then exhale, the TH may be more than you are used to.

I have only been off the analogs about 4 days now and the cough is already starting, in fact the vaping sometimes will bring on a coughing fit because of the TH, but I know what I am coughing up is the crap from 15 years of analogs. I have both a 100%VG and a 50/50 mix right now and I find that I can tolerate them both and can't tell much difference except in the flavor. As for the carts, if you buy the MEGA carts for the ego, I can usually get most of a day out of a single cart unless I am just chaining on it. I usually leave the house with two which I filled the night before but that is mostly to keep me from wanting to slide back to an analog if I run out. With the right setup you should be able to refill 5 of the mega carts in about the amount of time it would take you to go to the local corner store and buy a pack of analogs. My girlfriend says calls it my ...... kit because of the syringe and all the little parts but hey, it works!

Hi Mick

I find about 5 good hearty drags satisfies me. I have a modified technique tho. When I take the first draw, I inhale it then as I'm exhaling it through my nose I am taking a new draw... I do that 5 times and I find it much more satisfying than toking on it like an actual ciggy...

I'm also a newbie - 3 weeks or so in - but don't get sore lungs or throat at all... Could be you are drawing to hard or should try a different drawing tech like mine or french inhaling where you hold it in the mouth and then inhale to the lungs instead of a direct lung drag...

Alsdo could be the liquid. My 1st liquid made me hack and cough after the 2nd day and tasted like burned paper. Was convinced my attys were done for but bought a different brand of juice and was fine....

You can refill carts with your own juice. I recommend you pay attention to any dry or burny tastes and immediately refill (or at least "top off" by adding a few drops to the top of the cart) if it starts to taste dry or burny. The white stuffing will work for a while. When it stops working well (not holding its shape, not wicking well or dumping juice etc) then try replacing the white stuff with these cheap precut pieces of blue foam. I was not thrilled with the juices I got there but I hear the Kona Coffees they carry are good. And they also sell a little juice bottle on a keyring.

Precut foam for 510 carts
https://strictlyejuice.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=222

Then if you like the blue foam and are ready to cut your own, you can buy the uncut as Marineland Rite-size U Foam Sleeve at Petsmart in the aquarium dept.

I love the foam. it holds its shape, easy to clean if you need to (run under running water and pat dry with paper towel). Wicks nicely.

And re your throat etc hurting - prefilled carts and the separate juices multi-brand hardware vendors sell for carts are often the 100% Chinese PG juices by Dekang and 100% PG can be a bit rough on the tongue and throat. I prefer juices that are around 70PG/30VG or maybe 80/20 for a tobacco flavor, maybe 50/50 for a fruity/foody one. PG lets through more TH, VG is smoother and makes more visible vapor.

I recommend FreedomSmokeUSA - some of their flavors are available as $2.25 samplers but in 24mg and fixed PG/VG. Their normal sizes (smallest is $4) have your choice of nicotine and most have a wide range of PG/VG to choose from (though some fruity foody ones are at a fixed 50/50). When they aren't having another special sale, their discount code freedomsmokeusa gets 10% off

Oy. Just noticed today i'm getting the heartburn/indigestion/acidy feeling i sometimes get from analogs. Not good. That was part of the reason I quit/switched to ecigs.

I was hoping it wasn't the nicotine doing it and more so the other chemicals/crap in analogs but that doesn't appear to be the case.

Anyone else get heartburn/indigestion from e-cigs as well? Did you find any resolution? Otherwise i think my shiny new eGo is going up on the swap section.

Mick, I tried the gum, patches, cold turkey, Zyban and none of them worked. I intentionally stayed away from Chantix because of what the Zyban did to me. We won't go into that. I'm glad to hear that you're going to stick it out because I promise you that it will all be worth it once your body gets adjusted to vaping. I went through some pretty heavy withdrawal, both physical and psychological. I went through a period of mood swings, feeling tired, coughing up gunk, heartburn, dizziness...but I already knew that vaping was my ticket to a smoke free life even though I hadn't planned on quitting. I'm one of the "accidental quitters." I can't say for sure if you'll go through the same thing or how long it will last because everyone is different. All I can do is encourage you to keep vaping because you'll feel so much better and you can't put a price tag on your life.

Hey buddy! Welcome to the family 8)

i'm pretty much going to sound like an echo from everyone elses response.

Your lungs and throat are gonig to feel weird at first, or even sore. They are not used to water vapor they are used to nasty gross smoke. they want their normalicy back and you won't let them have it!

This is all foreign to your body so just go through the motions. At first you may even feel sick, that's completely normal.
It will pass quickly, i can assure you.

As for carts and refilling and or using them for certain periods of time. I remember when i first got my kit, i used to refill them throwing some drops right back on the polyfill. I must say, it never was the best vaping experience. I hated liquid in my mouth from the ejuice and all that.

In my OPINION, the best vaping experience is direct dripping onto the atomizer. after your done with those carts, you may want to try that 8) in the mean time! enjoy the new experience!

oh, and welcome to the family 8)

I always had heartburn and gastritis , I smoked for 36 years, now I only vape, I fell better, but sometimes I have heartburn, I think its someting you eat, you need to drink much water I see it here. Analogs were worse to me or to my estomach. Don't forget to buy many batterys, attys and juices, so there is no danger to returning smoke . No smoke, only vaper.
Improvements for your health!

Lol, I had crazy real dreams on chantix, My pal took it to quit snuff, and he had the funniest dream I've ever heard of! He kept dreaming about Woody Harrelson coming to his work at lunch time and trying to get him to sneak out back and partake in ..um...illegal substances lol. These dreams are so real, if you've never taken chantix, I guess it wouldn't be that funny. I'm here to tell ya though lol, that stuff is a mind trip. I got attacked by a bear in my crazy ... chantix dream. Scared the hell out of me.

RE the indigestion stuff...

I find that if I overfill a bit and end up getting juice in my mouth, the heartburn comes pretty quick. It's swallowing that nicotine that sets mine off. As you get better at vaping, that'll happen less often. Also I'll reiterate what's already been said: Keep fluids handy! Both PG and VG are hygroscopic, and draw water from their surroundings (which in this case is your mouth, esophagus, and lungs!), so you'll wand to stay hydrated. Sipping on some water helps mitigate the heartburn some, too.

The coughing will subside over time... I chalked mine up to 26 years of crap finally freeing itself from my lungs. About 2 weeks in, I could actually feel the increase of my lung capacity. I only get a bad cough now when I let myself get dehydrated (see above), or when I'm actually for-real sick :)

Other weird withdrawls may vary. I mean, who knows how many of those 4000 chemicals you were addicted to, besides the nicotine? Just stick with it, and the cravings will go away. If you break down and smoke an analog, no biggie... just choose vaping over smoking as often as you can. It's not like AA where you have to turn in your chip and start over.

Good luck!

Tbh I get none of those symptoms whatsoever.

You must be allergic to nicotine imo.

Try low nic brands of liquid. Or even ZERO nic just to keep the psycological part of the habbit satisfied without the nic fix.

No way I'd keep taking something that gave me those symptoms you entioned - not worth it seeing as much of the addiction is the hand to mouth and the inhaling / exhaling a cloud more than the nicotine imo...
