So I repositioned the firing pin arm. Guess it was sliding off the button top. No misfires yet.
Built a simpler coil at 1.2ohm and added a different drip tip. I find the flavor more muted now. Could this be from the drip tip?

It could be from your coil position. Move it out to the edge closer to the air hole and be sure it is in line with the air hole.

I think wide bore DTs work best when there's enough air being induced by the atty airhole to flow. You may be getting the venti straw effect where your capable of sucking more air than the airhole can keep up with and it's drawing juice upwards.

I'd try this:

Smaller bore DT (or enlarge airhole)

Lower, position ( closer to the rim ) and wick your coil so it looks like this (less wraps are ok - That was like a 1.7 ohm build)

Ensure all your wick is in the bowl not creeping up the sides of the cap.
