Hi all, so I am new to the forum. I quit smoking 50days ago today but only picked up my vape about 10days ago. Use nicotine free liquid, just really enjoy smoking and didnt want to leave it behind completely ^_^
eGo-CE4.jpg

Anyway I have a fake eGo, I have researched fake ones online but never seen the fake I have found here in South Africa (Chinese import) called eGo-CE4. Lol. The CE4 is the clearo it came with so no idea why they would print that on the battery!

Basically it is a 1100mAh battery and that is literally all I know. I really want to get better tank/clearo for it but am so confused by all the technical talk so think I need more time to have a read. Luckily there is a VapeKing right here by my work and one just opened on my road like 2 days ago! Winning! Here is their site in case anyone can help me with recommendations of things that I can actually get in SA as importing can be a HUGE hassle with customs destroying or re-charging for most things.

If anyone can have a look at www.vapeking.co.za and advise on best tank/clearo for my battery that would be awesome :D

Hello and welcome to the forum @New_Vape. Glad to have you here!:)

Your link won't go live until you have 5 posts and the servers update at :25 past the hour. Go out and welcome some other new members to up your post count.

If this is the site you are extremely limited with what you can put on that battery: Clearomizers

The only three that would work are the:
  • Aspire ET-S
  • Aspire Mini Nautilus
  • Kanger Mini Protank 3
I would opt for the Aspire Mini Nautilus as it has adjustable airflow and better coils.

Thank you for the tips, I shall do this :)

Ok thanks for the help there, I was considering the Kanger Mini Protank 3 due to pricing, unless i wait till next month then i can try the Aspire Mini Nautilus. Do you know if the protank produces nice thick vape? The CE4 I have set up is pretty damn good but I want something with more flavour and vape. I am looking into some better liquids imported from the USA as I believe this may help too :)

Clearomizers and the lot flat out won't give a "good" vapor production to me. Pre-made throw away coils aren't made for a good vape, it's a wonder too that they haven't improved all that much. I have a kanger subtank I use sometimes, and even that is just meh, it's same stuff they been making just used lower resistance wire for bridging the gap between new users and hobbyists. If you don't want to be a hobbyist and get into RDAs and the like, why fix what ain't broken? Keep vaping on what you got, and keep reading forum posts around here til we can convert you to the hobbyist dark side ^.^

that setup is like 3 years behind the times.

To get a jump ahead on cost, look for rebuildables at vapeking.
How much did you used to smoke? If you used to smoke half pack or less per day, then that type of setup you have might be perfectly adequate and cost effective for you.

I am looking at re-buildables but to be honest I don't know what to even look at or for! Ive been reading a lot on here to try make sense of what i need but there is just so much information.

I am definitely looking at getting more into the hobbyist side, just that I need to have the money to actually get started. All I wanted to know for now really is will the Kanger Protank 3 Mini be better than the CE4? If not I will just wait till I am ready for more costly parts

Honestly, your best bet I would say is to get the kanger subtank starter kit (probably go with the mini) 2 reasons 1:the subtank will allow you to try rebuildables, it has a small deck you can build on and 2:if you don't like rebuilding, you can simply buy replacement coils, and it will definitely give you better flavor, and vapor than a clearomizer can ever give you. Also 3:you will then have a battery for advanced vaping, so if you like rebuilding like the subtank, you can purchase a rebuildable atomizer of better quality than the subtank (subtank is a middle ground for new users to try rebuilding, but there are better rebuildable tanks out there, or if you want even bigger tasty clouds, move on to RDAs)

OP, what is hanging you up about rebuildables and all that that has you confused? I can give you a simple short grocery list to start advanced vaping, get a nice setup, or the kanger subtank would be a step forward, but I think you should just save your money and not make an upgrade lower than the subtank because you will end up like me, buying 7 beginner setups then start using an RDA one day and your like where has this fun stuff been hiding????

Welcome to the ECF. Sounds like your biggest obstacle is availability. Enjoy what you have while you investigate ways to up your game. Many of the suggestions here have been good ones for your current rig. I did a quick search on-line and found this link Vapers Paradise - South Africa . Looks like a pretty fair selection and many of their offerings are superior to what you have now. Take your time, learn what you can while you're here and look around...you'll get many suggestions and ideas from the people on this forum.

To answer your question, the Protank 3 mini might be a bit better than the CE4. It has a replaceable bottom coil and has a glass tank. The problem is that the Protank 3 is dual coil and your Ego battery might not have enough power to make much of a difference. A Protank 2 mini would work better, it uses a single coil, but I didn't see any on that site.

I think that ce4 you have looks like a disposable; it may last a few weeks then the coil will be so gunked up it will persistently taste burnt then you have to buy another.
The protank3 has replaceable coils; when the coils get gunked up you have to buy new coils; the protank3 takes higher powered coils compared to the ce4, and the ego battery you have might be a bit underpowered for it.

If the shop near you has any rebuildable drippers (rda) and some 32 or 30 gauge kanthal or nichrome wire, it could be a good buy if its cheap; drippers are fundamentally cheap. It would give you flexibility and durability.

They might have a subox kit or an evic vtc mini kit, but those would be on the pricier side of things.

So the Protank 3 Mini is a subtank right? :D (Hope you are starting to see my total lack of knowledge here, half the stuff I have been told has gone straight over my head cause of the jargon)

The hangup as I said is purely financial (South Africa is currently very.... lets be nice and say "Performing poorly" globally, we are at R15 to $1) and rent kind of comes before vape! :p

I would really appreciate a list of items I to get into the modding/hobby side

Not sure of the price in S.A. but a simple "EVOD" tank should be a cheap option and a newer/better
design than the old CE4.
They run 5-6 dollars around here.
You should be able to find one, they
are pretty standard clearos.
Cheers.

Thankfully yes, these I can find for a similar price! I shall try an EVOD and maybe the protank 3 mini too just to compare for myself
