I was a smoker for 12 years, and finally have been smoke-free for a month thanks to e-cigs. I tried them once before, but wasn't saving much money with pre-filled cartridges and starting with 12mg just didn't work, not after smoking a pack a day of full flavors for years. Only lasted a few days. This time I got a kit with liquid refills, using 24mg/mL at first to keep withdrawal at bay and now on about 1.5mL of 18mg per day. It's been great. Ultimately I'd like to be off the nicotine for good and just use 0mg once in awhile, but if that doesn't happen, I'm happy to have a cigarette substitute that I like. Patches and gum didn't work for me and lozenges only helped a little bit.

The part I like best is that I can use the e-cig in my house and car, and not have to worry about smoke smell clinging to fabrics and carpet or ash and .... disposal. The potential partial health benefits are nice, too, but I was lucky enough not to have any noticeable health problems from smoking other than a longer recovery time from sinus infections. I do seem to be able to jog a bit longer now, so maybe there were low-grade problems that snuck up on me slowly.

Welcome to ECF. That is awsome that you have found a set up that is working for you. Sounds like you are doing good at 1.5ml a day. I vape about 3-5ml a day a 12mg and soon will step down again. It is nice to vape in places that I would not smoke. I did not smoke in my house at all. Right now I am, but thinking of maybe not allowing myself to take it to certain parts of the house. Glad you found ECF.

Sometimes I forgot about the convenience of being able to vape anywhere, I'm so used to it now. At my work they have ashtrays built into the walls near the elevator that were used in the 80's. I always wanted to be able to smoke at work. Now I can. I feel sorry for the poor souls puffing away at their cigs enduring the winter weather in KC - now I stay warm, and smoking is so much more satisfying to me.

It feels healthier, cheaper, tastier and much more convenient.

Thanks, everyone! I was a bit hesitant to try a second time because of the initial costs, but I was burning up $150-$180 a month, so the kit has already paid for itself and then some.

My employer doesn't allow vaping in the building. However, it's still more convenient to use the e-cig because I don't have to worry about wasting a cigarette if I'm needed inside before I finish or don't want the whole thing at once. Maybe it's setting a less unhealthy example for some of my co-workers and my sister and brother-in-law, too.

Beyond the psychological aspects of smoking cigarettes, I really enjoyed tobacco flavor. The difficulty for me was finding tobacco juice that I liked more than cigarettes. It took me a while, but I found some. That was the end of cigarettes. However, as previously stated, using non-tobacco juices can work. My case was, and still is, I like tobacco.

Good luck to you. It sounds like you have yourself going well.

Welcome to ECF, Cade! And yes I know what you mean... I've been finding it hard to set a good example until I get finished being a bad influence. Hopefully I'll be finished with that part pretty soon. :) It's great you've found a setup that's working for you, hope you'll stick around the Forum, learn all you can, keep on vaping & prepare to be amazed. Happy Vaping! :vapor:

Congrats and welcome Cade
The beauty of vaping is you can reduce down to zero nicotine at your own pace if you so wish or find a level you are happy with and stay at that. If you want to just switch to not breathing in several thousand chemicals you can, if you want to quit all together but have found other methods difficult, you can do that too. If you want a PV that looks like a cig or one that looks like a light sabre, you have a plethora of choices. And the bonus is the hundreds of different flavours available. And that's before you even think about mixing your own flavours. It's all about choice, e-cigs work so well because they are so versatile.
