I was a smoker for 12 years, and finally have been smoke-free for a month thanks to e-cigs. I tried them once before, but wasn't saving much money with pre-filled cartridges and starting with 12mg just didn't work, not after smoking a pack a day of full flavors for years. Only lasted a few days. This time I got a kit with liquid refills, using 24mg/mL at first to keep withdrawal at bay and now on about 1.5mL of 18mg per day. It's been great. Ultimately I'd like to be off the nicotine for good and just use 0mg once in awhile, but if that doesn't happen, I'm happy to have a cigarette substitute that I like. Patches and gum didn't work for me and lozenges only helped a little bit.
The part I like best is that I can use the e-cig in my house and car, and not have to worry about smoke smell clinging to fabrics and carpet or ash and .... disposal. The potential partial health benefits are nice, too, but I was lucky enough not to have any noticeable health problems from smoking other than a longer recovery time from sinus infections. I do seem to be able to jog a bit longer now, so maybe there were low-grade problems that snuck up on me slowly.
