Hi new user have been "vaping" for a month now, bought an eGo starter pack with 1300ma batteries that last about a week between charges, visited local vap shop and found out that supposed to change atomizer every 5-7 days or when have burnt taste(yea didn't know lol) but have recently purchased itaste vv 900mah batteries with changeable voltage and wattage, and iclear 16 vw/vv atomizer with 2.1 ohm dual coils and dual wicks (don't know what that all means just putting what info I know down lol) and pleased but have to change out wicks daily cause love it over smoking, smoked for 13 years and this e-cig vapor thing has been wonderful having smoked a real cig in 2 weeks but need to know what I can do so I don't have to keep changing wicks daily. need to know what atomizer/coil/wick/wickless/liquid combos that are they best/efficient for chain smokers/vapors. Oh also using 30mg/24mg nicotine 50/50 vg/pg liquid any and all help is very much welcomed

I personally didn't like the top coils (the iclear 16) for that reason; they are a pain to clean and change juice In My Opinion............However, many people like the top coils and the iClear 16.

You cannot avoid having to clean or do maintenance on your toppers regardless of what you buy though. Personally, I didn't want a hobby so I have tried to find the easiest solution. For me, it is a Kanger ProTank II with stock coils and I just keep at least 15 in my stock at all times. I do some maintenance on them by keeping at least 4 in rotation. I use one and when I have soiled three of them, I soak them overnight in vodka. When they dry (about over-night), I use a new one and keep that going.

You do not have to but I change my coil once a day. I have had two die on me in 2 months..............your results may vary

p.s. your 800mah iTaste/iTastes vv/vw 3.0 will not last as long as your 1300mah battery/batteries. They are a nice battery though

Not sure how you get a week out of your battery being a chain vaper? At best I would get about a day or so out of 1300.

Why do you need to change out the wicks out daily? Sounds tedious.

cause by the end of the day the liquid is dark and burnt tasting, and idk the vaportaste.com 1300mah are not adjustable but I don't have to charge at most every 5-6 days

So you're changing the coil not just the wicks.

Yes they can be cleaned. Check out youtube, there are some good video's on cleaning and dry burning the coils. Sounds like you're using dark juice which will gunk them up quick but everyday seems a bit much.

I would maybe lower the wattage on your VV a little and see if that don't help.

drummerskey I have know idea what u mean by top coils if that's what the iclear 16 is ok but don't know of any other option yet, but I know I don't want to be a "dripper" that sounds like a huge pain

A topcoil, has the heating coil at the top, with LONG wicks hanging down so that liquid can soak the wick and move slowly upwards to the coil.

A bottom coil, has the coil at the bottom of the tank, and the wick from the coil is very short and might not even be visible. This means there is a hole in the bottom of the tank for the wick to lead liquid to the coil; this also means that liquid can leak through this hole by force of gravity. On the other hand, you will less likely have a dry coil when its bottom coil.

Sounds like you might be burning the coils too hot which might be affecting the liquid - what you setting the variable voltage/wattage to?

My liquid gradually gets darker as the coil "gunks" up - but to blow a coil in a day is really excessive - I use chocolate liquid which is pretty VG heavy and with regular cleaning/dry burning I can make a coil last close to 4 weeks with very regular cleaning.

Once a day seems like something else is amiss here!

this itaste 900mah vapes clouds all day long and so does the vaportaste 1300mah so I am ok from that stand point I think I mean its lungs full every hit i just work industrial construction all day so dripping is not really an option for me, unless lunch just really have time to take out of pocket hit 3-4 times then back to work may do that 2x a hr, but when i get home i hit it at least 4-5 times every 10 min and liquid last it just gets burnt, i never let it run out so don't know if getting dry coil, all coils still work just at end of day i change coil/wick and clean cartridge, i have 4 so i swap out daily but just would like it not to be burnt daily so just looking for better options, i have tried diff voltage/wattage combos for a week and still having burnt problem

The coil is what heats your juice and makes vapor. The iClear has the coil on the top which is why the wicks hang down like that. There are "bottom coil" where the wicks are at the bottom. Dripping is completely different but most dripper have a coil on the bottom.

There are a million options out there for you to try. It looks like you have tried the Blu (most people start with ciggalikes) but unfortunately, all of this stuff is subjective and only you will know what you are going to like. If what you are using is keeping you off the cigarettes, keep doing that but do some reading on the different kinds of battery choices, toppers (your iClear as an example) and juice flavors. Buy things that sound interesting to you and if you like it, stick with it for a while and buy some more.

Fortunately, a lot of stuff is cheap so you can easily try them.

Either way, check around and read some more forums and blogs.........get the lingo down..........buy some new stuff........and vape on!

First, welcome to the forum and glad that vaping is going so well for you. Congrats on ditching the cigarettes!

I'm retired and on a fixed income, so budget is always an issue for me. Also, I want something that is easy to maintain. I'm willing to change heads/coils, and soak them, and re use them for a while, but that's about it.

I've had good luck with Evod toppers. They fit on most ego style batteries, and are pretty inexpensive. That way, I can have several and keep them filled with different juice to rotate throughout the day. I use them until I notice a difference in the flavor, or the amount of vapor, and then I change the coils/heads.

There are a lot of tanks/toppers out there that people like a lot, but they are pretty pricey for me, $12 to $15, versus the Evod for $5 or $6. Also the replacement coils for a lot of tanks are more expensive than the coils for the Evods. Some of the coils cost about $3 each, and you can get a 5-pack of the Evod coils for about $6.

If money is no option for you, you have many choices for tanks, but I'm really pretty happy with my Evods and can stay within my budget that way.

Here is a link to a reliable vendor that has Evods on sale currently. If you use the code ECF at checkout you get 10% off, too. I would also recommend getting a pack of coils:

got watts at 6.1 and volts at 3.2 and coils are still working but wicks get burned out daily, i never let tank get below half way and never fill above 1.6 ml so not sure about dry runs, just throwing wicks away and cleaning coils with soap and water and they are dried out on a towel over night but have 25 coil/wick combos so haven't had to use any of the old coils yet but think they still work

If you don't get this figured out, you might consider dripping. Less pain than what you are going through here. I find out the dark juice gunks quick. Try a lighter less sweet juice and see how that acts. Good luck, welcome and happy vaping!! :vapor:
