New vaper here. Anyone else from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia?

Hey! New vaper here. Well actually I've been vaping since September 2014 but I guess it's still considered new :) I've been lurking around searching for information, and always get directed to this forum. Great site with a lot of information!

Initially the plan was to stop smoking, I lost count at the number of attempts, and I managed about 5 months but I relapsed and that's when I decided to try vaping. It was quite intimidating at first with all the foreign terms and numbers. Attys, clearos, voltages, wattages etc... So I went to a local store and they were really helpful to point me in the right direction. I got me a starter kit and it really changed my life. I still smoked cigarettes every now and then when I first started but now, I can actually say no when someone offers me a cig, and that's a huge improvement! Though I did sneak in a couple of cigs during NYE.... but those few cigs made me realised that vaping is wayyyyy nicer than smoking :)

I've been rolling cigs for as long as I can remember so buildilng coils really appealed to me. What was supposed to be a trip to only buy an ohm meter and some coils, ended up with a new mod, an RBA and coils... So much for not spending too much on vaping heh... At least from here on I'll only be spending money to buy the coils, wicks and juice which is definitely cheaper than cigs! Hopefully I don't get too much into it and keep on wanting to upgrade..

Health improvements.. I've always been quite active even while smoking heavily so I can't really see the difference but one thing for sure, I don't feel phlegmy these days. I'm not a foodie (to me, food is just something necessary to stay alive and get on with the day) so I can't really say for sure if my sense of taste has improved but I think my sense smell has improved.

Overall, it's been a positive change in life. I'm not one to start preaching to my friends but if they start the topic, I'll do my best to convince them to make the switch.

Hi baburs! Welcome. I'm from KL too. Been vaping since July. Start off with kayfun lite plus v2 with stingray (both clone). Now settling down with authentic kayfun 4 with ProVari 3 (hopefully no more buying).
They say vaping is cheaper then cig, in my case, that is not true. I seem to spend more on ejuice than on cig. I guess mostly because I only buy US juice.

Hello Barburs!

I'm not quite from KL but I'm your neighbor in Singapore!
I've been vaping too since 2011 but only recently discovered ECF. I think my biggest challenge is to get supplies because of how strict it is here on the ban on E cigs. Because of that I have resorted to DIY for my juice and gear. Been tobacco free for 4 years now and loving it!

Cheers neighbor!

I actually had spent more because I was rolling my cigs so I was probably spending between RM 150 - 200 per month, maybe lesser. If I totaled all my vaping cost up to now and spread it among the months, it's definitely more than RM 200 per month. I'm not too worried about it though because from here on it'll just be buying coils, juice and wicks, and I have a .... load of cotton that can last me a long time.

I started with a smok ego VV battery with a mini protank 2, a starter kit from Vapebrothers. I then bought a Innokin MVP (some guy had a clearance for RM 95) so I have a spare battery.

Now I'm using a Cloupor mini and Fogger v3, and I feel like I can stick to this setup for a very long time. An RBA to play around with the coil setup and a VW mod should be good enough. I'm enjoying the micro coils :)

I should sell off my old gears...

In your case about the juice, yeah I saw that some of them are really expensive! But there are some US juice which are decently priced too. I just got a Mister E-Liquid 30ml for RM 50 which is just slightly more expensive than Liqua.

Yeah I've heard about how strict Singapore is with e-cigs. Is it a total ban? If I were to visit Singapore, can I bring my gears and juices? I might visit in the middle of the year and wouldn't want my stuff to get confiscated..

At the moment a total ban is in effect, not to mention customs have stepped up their game as well. If you were to come here I would recommend you to bring a small amount of juice and preferably a cheap e cig (In case they tell you to throw it away). Better safe than sorry!

If you do come here though be sure to hit me up! Always happy to meet up with fellow vapers!

Hi Ravrheart! Since e cigs are ban there, how do you last for 4 years? I'm going there this weekend, I was wondering how can I bring my e cig along. I guess the only way is to bring a pack of cig there.

Hey there! I've been surviving on DIY juices and the occasional successful packages lol.
I've read several posts of foreigners coming here with their e cigs and small amount of juices successfully but still I would take precautions if I were you. If you're coming here by plane perhaps grab a cheap e cig and disassemble it and put it in your luggage? If by car I doubt there should be any problems unless you make it too obvious lol.

Oh, you into Mister-E, you can get it cheaper at The Vape69. I've been trying almost all the US juice, now stick to Innevape RM60/30ml.

thmstwwmg - Can I check with you what is malaysia's stance on e cigarettes at the moment? If I were to ship stuff over to JB via fasttech will malaysia customs detain it? I was thinking maybe to ship my stuff to JB then drive over and pick it up lol

I'm not sure about importing e-cig stuff into Malaysia. I bought all my stuff from local shop or local online store.

I did experience once by sending my ProVari to US for warranty claim, it came back with any issue with customs but ProVape also very smart by declare it as electronic battery container and value at USD 1.

Although MY is officially ban but the vape shop here is getting more & more, people vape publicly. I also heard if you import any e cig stuff, you get tax by customs & tax rate is same as cig. Some say e cig hardware is categorize as computer gadget which is no tax.

Just tried it, bought a bottle of RY4. Kinda nice. Will try Innevape after this one is done. And thanks for mentioning The Vape69! Wayyy cheaper! I feel cheated now but then again it was bought from a shop so I'm sure they factored in costs of rent, salary etc.

Looks like I'll be keeping my old battery and tank :) I thought of selling it off but I guess I could use it for this.

Sounds like I'm better off checking some of the vape shops in JB. Do you know of any in JB? (If you could pm me that would be nice!)

*EDIT*

LOL There's one just right over that bridge!

I don't know about JB but I normally order online from Le Gadgets or VapeBrothers. Since I cut down to 6mg, I mostly get stuff from Le Gadgets.

Recently I find that I don't like to vape 12mg juice anymore. It's give me the throat hit/dry.

I've also recently lowered my nic from 18mg to 9mg. It does feel smoother but I think I'm going through more juice per day since it's lower. I really have to control my intake now so I limit myself to a full tank in fogger per day, which I think is about 4ml
