Howdy folks. New guy here! :)

Here's my opening rant. It's pretty boring and pompous so feel free to skip to the bottom :p

I started vaping around January of this year. Started with an off-brand ego-style battery with a top-coil clearomizer...pretty unhappy with that, as i had to suck the hell out of it to get a measly amount of vapor/nicotine...and the off-brand china-made juice was not helping that situation. Went back to cigarettes, but kept my eye on vaping.

Started watching vaping related youtube videos, and quickly became overwhelmed with the RIDICULOUS amount of jargon that vapers throw around. (cartomizer? RBA? kanthal? mods? attys? what the f!$^% are you guys talking about? what the hell is an "analog"?)

Eventually, after doing a fair bit of research, I got an iTaste VV with a Kanger mini protank. Was still pretty unhappy with the vape I was getting, as the smell of the e-juice itself was NOTHING like the flavor I was getting from the vape, and the amount of vapor was also still garbage. I even taught myself how to rebuild Kanger coils in the hopes that I could find a satisfactory vape.

So then I nutted up and bought a Kayfun Mini. Stupidly expensive. Gurgly, leaky mess that was incredibly hard to fill. Maybe I was doing it wrong but I personally thought it was a poor design in several regards.

Sold that on craigslist, then bought a GG Penelope V3. Also incredibly expensive for what it is. Well, I find that's too airy of an draw, and I keep getting this subtle yet awful burning flavor from the plastic parts. (and I'm only vaping at like 8 watts TOPS) Put that on the shelf.

I wanted a Squape, but given that I couldn't find one, (that's a rant for another day...) I finally I got the new Kayfun Lite+. Less expensive than the previous two...but still a buttload of money. This thing is good, but I still have a few gripes with it. (namely juice control, along with the fact that there's no way to remove the coil without dumping juice)

Add throughout this story the fact that most of the juices I've tried over these last few months have been 'meh' at best, retch-inducing at worst. I can hang with some of the Epic e-juices...but I have as yet only tried a tiny number of the juices that are out there.

Now I'm looking for a PV with cojones in order to get some more performance out of my Kayfun...but it's only getting incredibly frustrating. As a former Electrical Engineer, I really cannot fathom how people are HAPPY to be paying upwards of $200 USD for what is essentially just a Li-Ion battery with voltage regulation. Supply, demand, etc...I don't care...it's flipping out-of-control. And not only that, but when I'm ready and willing to fork over my money for one of these pieces, they're nowhere to be found...and that frustrates the hell out of me even more.

All the while I keep fondly recalling how simple it was to walk into ANY corner store and buy a pack of Newports and a fresh Bic.

Anyway. Rant over.

Basically, I'm just a newbie vaper that is highly annoyed with the current state of the vaping market, but also very VERY grateful that it exists. I'm also very grateful to many of you guys, as well as the youtubers, for all the free information.

Still looking for that perfect vape to get me off smoking tobacco for good!

Cheers, people! :)

the voltage regulation devices can be very over priced. some of the $200+ dollar mods are more like works of art.
basically one guy makes a few mods for about a month or two and sells them for $200+. then a company in china picks one up and they do a crappy job of recreating it and sell it by the thousands for $35 each. its like an original Picasso VS an unlimited, unnumbered, unsigned reprint of a Picasso that is poorly framed..
pbusardo (youtube) runs a few tests on the Variable Voltage (VV) mods he reviews. his reviews will tell you if the Variable Voltage device is really garbage or not.

Yeah, I can see how one might find aesthetic appeal in vaping a richly-engraved brass and silver mech mod...but I wouldn't, for the same reason I don't wear gold chains.

As much as I don't like to see companies ripping off each other's ideas, I can't fault the person who wants to save $150 on what is essentially just a pretty flashlight tube. (without the flashlight, or battery...lol)

And in my opinion, pbusardo does the BEST job of reviewing devices and liquid on youtube...even if his average video is longer than The Godfather Part II.
