Hiya all. I'm a newbie to all this and I bought a Kanger Evod kit yesterday and although one of my things works fine I'm having problems with the other. Both batteries are fully charged but this morning when trying to use on it was gurgling then I couldn't inhale anything and was getting juice in my mouth. I have taken the battery off and cleaned that (it had liquid inside it) and cleaned the other piece that joins onto the battery then screwed it back together and the same happened again. Do I need to empty all the juice out and dry the other part out too to stop it? What can I do to prevent it happening again? Like I say the other one is fine but I don't know how to fix this one

Good morning @Yvonneth83. Sorry to hear that your Kanger experience has been less than stellar already. I'm a huge fan of the Evod and other tanks that share the same coil. They are all I use. But I'll be the first to admit they can be problematic for a beginner.
The video above is an excellent example of how to deal with this problem.
A good rule of thumb for your tanks is to always stand them upside down on a paper towel or napkin for overnight or other long periods of non use. If you're into tinkering and learning to rebuild or just rewick the Kanger coils in your kit can be among the most affordable to own and maintain. This is why I prefer them. BUT if you're a plug and play type the tanks could be frustrating. If you do get frustrated don't give up on your kit, the batteries are good and there are good inexpensive tanks available that will work with them. I started with this tank>>Aspire ET BVC Clearomizer

And these coils>>Aspire BVC Replacement Coil Heads (5pk)

Another very popular and affordable series of tanks is discussed in this thread.>>Eleaf GS Air Fan : Part 2

One more thing >> NEVER charge ANY batteries unattended or overnight!

Couple of tips.
1. Remove the tank from battery when topping up, this includes the tank base.
2. Always check to ensure the coil is tight in the base after topping up, it loosens off sometimes.
3. Do primer puffs on a new coil, this helps prevent the cotton from burning/dissappearing on the first hit.
4. Try to keep the top half of the tank filled, more back pressure means less chance of leakage.
5. Don't over heat it too much by over use or high heat/direct sunlight. Liquid gets less viscous and seepage may occur.
6. If you experience gurgling when taking a draw, remove the tank from the battery and gently blow through the mouthpiece into a tissue. Dry everything off and re-assemble.
Cheers.

One last thing I forgot to mention, it has to do with "draw technique".
IF a person lets off the fire button at the same time they stop drawing there will be vapour left in the chimney. Over time this condensates, builds up and one might think the device is "leaking" when in fact it is not.
To minimize this simply continue to draw for a second AFTER releasing the fire button.
This will remove most left over vapour and minimize any build-up.

Seems everyone has given you some pretty spot on advice so far. As for storing I just wanted to add if you pop out the drip tip you can set the tank upside down to help prevent leaks/flooding of the coil when not in use. Just let it sit for 5 minutes or take 1-2 primer pulls when you put it back on a battery to ensure the coil is wicking again.

Also you could try the updated coils. Not sure if you're running the stock kanger evod coils (White box), but I prefer the MT32 SOCC coils. They're cotton, and in my opinion give better vapor and flavor.

If your device is an EVOD 2, you can use he upgraded VOCC coils. Same deal, cotton wick and an improvement over the stock or even upgraded BDC coils.

For the EVOD's I don't believe the air tube is wide enough to fit a Q-tip down, but some small pipe cleaners can help clear it out if you have flooding/condensation issues without having to drain the tank.

Best of Luck!

Edit:Just wanted to add something like these:
VapeOnly Desktop eGo Battery Holder

Work awesome for storing EGO and Mini style protank tanks. Just pop out the drip tip and set it in there upside down.

Evod tanks (the 'Evod') are sometimes problematic.

You certainly need to keep the connection section on your battery as liquid free as you can.

Leaks are often down to a few issues (in no particular order)...

  • poor 'filling' of the juice holes with the silica (bad QC)
  • sucking too hard
  • lying the tanks on their side
  • regular agitation/movement of the tank
  • too thin liquid (high PG)
I found it almost impossible to get good service from Evods.
The cotton coils are more reliable (SOCC) and better for flavor too.

Basically it's old tech, usually dirt cheap (although you wouldn't think so the prices some brands charge) and you have to accept the shortcomings. Higher VG works better (50/50 for example) and keep them cool and not shaken/on their side.

One brand charges $14.99 for the clearomiser and another $14.99 for the coils.

Last time I bought, I paid $3.50 for the clearo and $5.00 for the coils.

...never let it be said the e-cig industry puts profit before user success.

My daughter and I have been using Evods for a couple of years now, and really enjoyed them. We have had minimal problems with either the tanks or the batteries. I try to order from vendors that stock genuine Kanger parts, especially coils. For us, it is worth it to get genuine replacements.

We prefer the Evod Glass over the Protank 2 Minis, which I had originally gotten along with our first Evod starter kits. You will probably want to get a glass tank eventually. The original Evod tanks, as well as the Evod 2 tanks that come with the Evod 2 starter kits, are plastic, and can be damaged and/or destroyed by certain eliquids such as cinnamon and citrus. The Evod Glass comes with Kanger dual coils, but they do work with Kanger single coils. I prefer the Kanger single coils, whereas my daughter likes the dual coils.

We have successfully been using the Evod tanks on Evod 650 mah batteries with eliquids at 50/50 pg/vg and 30 pg/70 vg with no problems whatsoever. Some eliquids, such as darker, sweeter flavors, will gunk up a coil sooner than lighter, less sweet flavors. The Kanger single coils can be cleaned/re-wicked/re-coiled, depending on your preference. I have had some success in getting an extra 2-3 uses out of a coil before I pitch it, just by cleaning. Not so much for the dual coils - so far, just using a fresh coil has been working better for us than cleaning.

Have fun with your Evod. Play with different pg/vg and nicotine ratios until you find what works best for you. Get familiar with your equipment. This will stand you in good stead if and when you decide to upgrade.
