Hello everyone.

I stumbled upon a video of the Green Smoke on YouTube a couple days ago and it got me interested in vaping. I've tried vaping once before using a disposable Gamucci that I picked up at a gas station, but I was not satisfied with it whatsoever because it produced nearly no vapor and had no throat-hit. However, the Green Smoke looked like a much more satisfying experience and so I want to give vaping another go. After checking out some more reviews on the Green Smoke I was almost comitted to buying one until I came across this site. I've spent the past couple reading posts with the most helpful being those in the ECF library. I've already learned more about vaping than I ever imagined I would and I haven't even started! Now that I understand the vaping process and have become familiar with a few of the products available, I need to decide what hardware to get.

Researching all the various options is time consuming. While I would love to spend the next week looking over them all, I'm too excited to get started vaping now. I'm sure that some of you experienced vapers will be able to help me faster than I can help myself.

So here's what I would like to have in my first PV:

1) A good amount of vapor. I am not sure how much of a factor the actual hardware is in producing vapor. I understand the amount of VG in the juice plays a role, and that is something I can experiment with. If the device does matter, I want one that produces a lot of vapor but not too much. If it's comparable to the amount of smoke that comes from a cigarette that would be great.

2) Throat-hit at about the same level of a real cigarette. I smoke Basic Menthols if that helps. I know the nicotine level can play a role in this but I guess hardware does too.

3) Easy draw like a real cigarette. Not the thick milkshake kind.

4) Manual switch.

5) Flexible for modifications.

Right now I'm looking at getting a Joye 510 kit from Cignot because I've heard a lot of good things about it. I want something that is high quality but not going to break the bank. I also want to get a USB passthrough and possibly a battery/voltage mod of some sort if I can manage to squeeze that into my budget. I would like to get everything for under $150-200 but I can stretch the budget a little if the reason for doing so is justified.

My first question is about what makes a model like the 510 a 510. I'm assuming its the atomizer, right? That would mean that if I use a different battery and cartridge I would still call my PV a 510.

My second question actually led me to ask the first. I notice that some PV's use a cartridge that has a whistle tip. The Joye 510's cartridges are just the round kind but I think I would prefer the whistle tip. Can I get different whistle tip cartridges for a 510 and if so, where would I get them and how can I be sure they are compatible?

I'm not too sure how well you can mix & match different parts of PVs or how often people even do. But if it is possible I would like a PV that is flexible so that if I wish to do some upgrades to it I will have options available.

Finally, I noticed that companies other than Joye sell the 510. Are all these the same quality? If I do get a 510, which one should I get?

Yes. I bought my first 510 from Cignot and then I purchased the Tornado and the eGo...................all 510's. Only the battery life between the Joye 510 and the other two are the difference. I can use all my atomizer's and carts on all three.
My second question actually led me to ask the first. I notice that some PV's use a cartridge that has a whistle tip. You can get the whistle tip carts from Cignot as well. Almost every vendor sells the whistle tip carts for the Joye 510. If it says, whistle for the 510, it will be compatible.

I'm not too sure how well you can mix & match different parts of PVs or how often people even do. But if it is possible I would like a PV that is flexible so that if I wish to do some upgrades to it I will have options available.

Quality is in the eyes of the beholder. :p I have purchased quite a few 510's from different vendor's and so far, they have all been great. But as with any hardware, sometimes you will receive some faulty items but the suppliers here have been great to deal with when it comes to these issues.

Hope that helps! Good Luck! :D

Thanks for the advice so far. I still haven't decided whether or not I'll go with the standard 510 kit. I've been watching some YouTube videos of different products and I'm starting to think I should get one with a bigger battery right off the bat so I don't have to worry about upgrading later. I'm starting to realize that the same atomizers are used in most products, usually either the 510 or 801. Right now I'm very interested in the Janty Stick v3. It comes with a 801 but has one of those adapters for a 510 so I could try both. I love the way it looks and how it would fit in my hand. But I'm still undecided and have more reviews to read.

I'm starting to understand why a lot of members here have their own little collection of PV's. There's just so many to choose from and it's hard to tell which one you're going to like the most without trying them first.

Try the Indulgence from Eastmall and then get a 3 pack of 901s, 801s, and 510s. The battery lasts forever, and you can use all of those atomizers on the same apparatus. Beware, the clicker, though well made on the device can break, or at least mine did. Waiting on a replacement, but best experience I've had with an E Cig so far, and I've spent hundreds on different ones.

I have regular 510 batteries and the "Tornado" 510 batteries both from Totally Wicked. If you are interested in that style I totally recommend getting tornado batts or "ego" batts from Janty.

I also have a Vapor King from Vapor 4 Life. I like them both. 510 stuff if you like to fiddle with things and mod things. V4Life if you want an easy take it with you package. 510 might produce a bit more vapor, Vapor King is tatstier IMO.

so many people have said they wished that they had bought the tornado/ego first up, rather than the regular 510. for no other reason that way better battery life. if you do get the 510, it won't be long before you will be wanting a tornado/ego, or perhaps something bigger. so, my advice would be to save yourself some $$$ right now and just get the tornado/ego. you won't go stir crazy having batteries die every hour, like you will with a regular 510.
best of luck :)

I've decided to go with the Joye 510 from Cignot. I wanted to get something that will hold a charge longer like an eGo, Stick, or Indulgence, but Janty is pretty much out of stock on everything right now and I'm still not sure which one I really want anyways.

Now I need to decide what else I need in addition to the 510 Starter kit. I know I need liquid, some empty carts, and I want to get a USB PT. Is there anything else that I'll need or might want, possibly for cleaning or maintenance? Which liquids should I get from Cignot? Has anyone tried the PTB carts from Cignot?

These were my thoughts exactly, but as soon as I saw the Janty eGo and Stick were both sold out I just decided to give up and go with the 510 knowing that I'll probably want to upgrade later. The truth is I'm just tired of researching and I'm ready to get to vaping. Maybe I shouldn't give up just yet. I'll check out the Tornado.

I just finished watching a video on the Tornado and I'm impressed. This may be the one! My only concern is I don't see any whistle tips for it on Totally Wicked's Web site. Is there some way I can use whistle tips on this device? I watched a vid by that Tropical Guy (forget his name) and he explained how the round tips have a small plastic piece that can come out and may cause you to choke. I want to completely avoid that from happening by using whistle tips exclusively.

Hello Fellow Ohioan,,,,
Like you I read a lot of info from this forum before deciding on a Ego, about 2 months ago...Like everyone said, the Ego delivers and with the cheaper 510 attys, it works great for me....Have three batteries, bought extras just in case. Even have a pack of 5 auto batteries, but only use them as spares...The three manual battys are all going strong, of course it has only been two months...Bought the Ego for under $80.00 with a few extra attys and an extra man batty and it came to a little over $100.
In fact with my Ego, I am able to buy a lot of different juices, because I don't have to worry about batteries or even expensive attys...Just my opinion....Hope you have a great experience, like I am right now..Welcome...

totally wicked has the tornado in stock at the moment. i bought mine there and have had no problems at all. as for the whistle tips...... they are available from other suppliers, although i've not seen them for a while. as for the piece coming out of the top.... not very likely at all!!! when i clean mine, i have to pry it off with the blunt end of a strong sewing needle. i've not had one come out in my mouth, and dare say it will never happen. not sure why anyone would say such a thing.... they are tight little buggers. the whistle tips also have the small piece which can be removed, so don't let that be a deciding factor in which carts you purchase. the whistle tips are more comfortable in my opinion, but both are just fine.
so...... off you go and buy your tornado and happy vaping!! :p

Thank you guys so much. I'm going to go with the Tornado! I assume any whistle tips that work with the 510 will work with this. Now I just need to figure out what Juice & supplies to get. Can't wait to try it!

Good choice as far as pv. Keep in mind there is no warranty on their batteries. But the device is great.
