Afternoon all!

Short time lurker and vaper, now doing the first of my obligatory 5 newbie posts.

I just bought my first E-cig, an NJoy Npro. Horrible taste and harsh TH, but I like the concept and potential. Looking to get the Smokeless Image Volt as my first serious E-cig and keep the NPro for a spare. The Njoy just doesn't seem to produce a good enough amount of vapor and the TH is way too hard for my liking (probably the juice). I bought some empty cartos from Vapor Kings for my 4081 Npro and some juice samplers from FSUSA so I can keep vaping. (I'm definitely going to be a DIY-er!)

I was really surprised at the size of the vaping Culture out there! I had no idea it was this widespread. Nearly more mods than gamers!

So, after reading in the library here, surfing suppliers, and watching video reviews for 2 days solid, I decided on an 808 (the Volt) which I'll get next payday. Love the cartomizers and the ability to refill them. What I'm looking for is a mellow throat hit as my cough mechanism is on hair-trigger lately, but good amounts of vapor for that "full lung feeling" as well as a decent flavor. I work in equipment facilities for a major telecomm company and vaping sure beats running outside for a smoke. Besides, I want to see my kids have kids so after 35 years of MB reds, it's time to cut 'em off (before "excrement occurs!").

What a wonderful alternative this is!!

Welcome!! Good choice.

Your threading is KR808D-1

You may find FSUSA samplers (50PG/50VG) a bit thick for slim ecig cartos - buy a bottle of distilled water at the grocery store in case you need to add a drop or two to thin them.

VG is thick, dulls flavors & nicotine TH and irritation and makes good vapor, PG is thin and lets through flavor, nicotine TH and nicotine irritation the best but makes thin looking vapor. Most people use blends.

SmokelessImage juices are 80PG/20VG and that's the same as what I use in slim ecig cartos, and I also use 90PG/10VG and a couple of Vapor4Life WOW juices (seem around the thickness of 90/10 to me). And 70PG/30Vg will work - probably work fine in SI cartos but I find it a bit too thick for more tightly stuffed cartos.

You can also try Vapor4Life carto samples on SmokelessImage. I recommend the WOW Tobacco Shop sampler and I tried all of the vanillas and favor WOW Vanilla. Some of their fruit flavors were not to my liking (particularly the apple and cranberry ones - not for me). And Halocigs G6 may have some other flavors - you can use those cartos too.

Great choice. I like to use a simple plastic or delrin drip tip instead of the endcap (easy to pull out to check the stuffing or add juice). The plain clear colored ones and rounded black delrin ones for KR808D-1 at LiteCigUSA.net fit. And from the same shop - if you have a manual battery, you can use a standard resistance DSE901 atomizer and drip tip to test juices and vape occasional juices or ones too thick for cartos (drip tips are not recommended for auto batteries but you could get DSE901 cartridges instead). I like to drip a couple of FSUSA 50/50 juices (Hopcotch yum and Voodoo)

Never put untested juices in a cartomizer. Cartomizers are hard to clean and dry and ever have them work as well again so most people don't clean them. I only put suitable juices I know I like and will vape into cartomizers. I keep the carto damp to avoid singeing and can get 7 days of use out of a KR808D-1 carto.

I started on the NJOY NPRO too, and managed to kick analogs with it. I had it for a week and got so frustrated with the NJOY replacement cartomizers (claimed to be worth 2 packs of cigs, more like 1/2 a pack, and 1/4 of them didn't work at all), I finally did some research and moved onto the eGo (very popular starter set on this forum). Vaping with the eGo is light years better than the NJOY -- not even comparable, really. With the NJOY, I decided I didn't need cigarettes anymore. With the eGo, I realized I didn't even want cigarettes anymore.

So, welcome, good luck, and rest assured -- this whole vaping thing is a whole lot better once you've got a decent device.

Thanks, Dormouse!
I hadn't thought about dripping samples (DUH!!). I hadn't planned on dripping (much) because I like the automatic batteries, but it sounds like a must for sampling. Wow, 7 days on a carto is much better than I expected! I bought a couple of 50/50 blends in the smallest size of a couple of flavors, just to get my feet wet. Hopefully, I can find a site that has pipe tobacco flavors that taste somewhat like they smell. I have plans on an epipe in the future....

Thanks Dude, and your right, the NPro carto lasted barely a day and started tasting burnt. Heck it was nasty anyway....and I'm SO ready to dump the analogs!!

So you buy the prefilled cartomizers to test out different flavors?

No, bought some empty (4081) cartos and some 5ml juices from FSUSA to sample. If I can put up with NJoys nasty original flavor, I can tolerate anything for a week. When I get my Volt (808) with the sealed batteries next week, I'll try the tobacco flavors that come with it then get more juices and a tip. I'll use alcohol (NOT RUBBING) to clean the filler and cartos. I'm up to speed on several cleaning methods from watching vids for 2 days on youtube! LOL! AND I used to be a hippy <wink-wink> so I know what'll work for cleaning. VODKA!!!

BTW, can anyone recommend a GOOD PCC? Steeljan just ripped Volts PCC to shreds and I plan on using the 78mm batteries, so the Volt Mega is out of the question.

P.S. Used to be? Heck, I still wanna be! Sucks gettin' old(er)!
