@jjatl - Congratulations on joining the ever-growing ranks of people who are now ex-smokers, by way of vaping! It's definitely encouraging to others every time they can read another success story.

I'll be 2 years smoke free as of this coming Jan. 14th, after smoking 1 - 1 1/2 packs a day for more than 41 years. Quitting smoking was truly the 1 and only thing that I'd wanted to do during my life...that I never could accomplish. However, anything else I wanted to get done for other people, I was always able to, one way or another. I finally had to decide that doing something for ME, and for the rest of my life - was just as important. vaping has honestly changed my life for the better, and I want to spread the word about vaping to all the smokers I can who have also wanted to quit, but couldn't.

So far, as of today, I've encouraged and managed to help 8 people I know to totally get off smokes through vaping. Another 3 are very near their goal, and just during this weekend...have gotten another 2 perfect strangers (who came to a fundraising sale for DAV that I was having) started on vaping and tapering off the smokes! I just can't help spreading the word about vaping now, even to strangers.

It's a wonderful feeling, isn't it...to have finally accomplished something that you've wanted so badly to do? You should feel extremely proud of yourself! You deserve it. :)

I've never tried vape wild juice but in terms of budget e juice Dr Crimmys is my go to.

Luckily I have a bunch of B&M stores nearby with semi-affordable juice, because to be completely honest, I will not be vaping any more of the 90ml that I got from Vape Wild. After 3 weeks of steeping, I enjoy some of the flavors, but they all are really harsh in my throat. I do not like bad mouthing someone's product, and I wouldn't have said anything unless someone brought it up, but VW is definitely not for me. I really wanted to like the juice because it is super affordable and many people rave about them, but it is the only juice I have tried that hurts my throat and makes me cough.

Some people may say that the 50/50 mix or the 12mg is the reason that it is harsh, but all I know is that I have 6 other juices from 2 different B&M and 1 online store that are all 12mg and 50/50 or 65/35 and none of them have made me cough or hurt my throat.

As I said earlier, I enjoyed some of the flavors. Maybe once I am down to 3mg or 6mg I will give VW another shot, but for now, I will not be placing a second order and need to find a new home for the bottles I have.

I have an order of 3 ITCVape bottles that should be delivered tomorrow, but I will also look into Dr Crimmys. Thanks for the suggestion!!!

Thank you for the praise, and you are right, it is a wonderful feeling!!!!

Congrats on your 23months!!! That is fantastic!!!

I know exactly what you mean about wanting to spread the word. Quitting cigarettes while vaping has been 1million times easier than all of the other things that I have tried. I believe in it as a cessation tool so much, that like you, I have found myself encouraging people to give it a shot.

At a local B&M, they were selling evod style batteries and tanks with charges for $6. I purchased 4 of them to give to friends and family to try vaping. I do not know if the evod setup will be enough for them to quit, but for me, a little cheap setup like that was all I needed. With my evod I discovered that Vaping was the answer for me to quit cigarettes for good.

It can be intimidating walking into one of those stores where everyone is vaping on a brass mech or 200w box blowing humongous clouds. So I have also taken 2 people to a local B&M to do some taste testing, and introduce them to the owner.

I started with evod starter kit. Decent starter kit to see if vaping can work for them.

Then if it is something they want to go with recommend they get a Nautilus Mini and Istick 40. Give them plenty room to grow and keeping the MTL hit

I am thinking along those same lines. I was thinking that the istick mini 20w would be a perfect battery with the nautilus mini for a small purse Vape for someone who would never go sub ohm. For those people I need a super simple device with cheap coils.

Would recommend the 30 or the 40.

The 20 only fires at 1-3 ohms.

Everi vapers vaping style changes. The 30 or the 40 can fire sub ohm. If they grow into sub ohming, RDAs, RTAs the 30 or the 40 will continue to work for them.

I would generally recommend a mod with 18650 battery but that is more money, and then more money for good batteries.

I started in Nov. 2013 with only a simple Joyetech 510 Starter Kit...with the 2 penlike batteries, 2 atomizers, 5 foam filled cartridges to put the e-liquid in, and a drip tip. I liked it because it was so similar in size to my cigarettes. I bought more 280mAh batteries for it and quite a few Vision Nano clearomizers, and used those exclusively until April or May. 2 of the 3 women I've helped to quit also preferred that same combination of simple things to quit because of their size and ease of use. My next little step-up was to get several eGo-T 1100mAh batteries with beauty rings to use with the Nanos . That combination, along with adding some cheap slighter larger CE5 clearomizers, is what the other people who have totally quit used, as well as those who are still gradually switching to vaping.

Most of the original switchers have since gone on to more complicated, higher-priced set-ups. (1 neighbor convert, loved vaping so much that he'd buy himself "a new vaping toy" about every 2 weeks. Now he even works part-time at a local B&M vape shop!) My whole point is this - Like with your eVod set-up, the goal from the beginning was...just find something simple that was working for them, to help them quit! So far, I've not had 1 person who started, who has not been successful in quitting.

My own next step was trying and loving the Innokin iClear 16D tanks with replaceable coils. Final little additions (just in the last 4 months) were several Innokin MVP 2.0 box mods (only 11w but works for me) and several Protank 2 Mini tanks with replaceable coils. I still use ALL of it at different times and for different reasons. I'm getting into DIY liquids, but don't foresee getting any more complicated or larger set-ups for myself. The old saying, "If something's not broken...don't fix it" comes to mind for me personally.

I wish as much success for you as well, with introducing other smokers to the wonderful thing called vaping!

After you tsste the difference between a silica wick and a cotton wick you will jump at the chance to upgrade.

Hopefully I will have the same luck you have had helping others . Person #1 has gone 5days. So I am excited.

5 days already? That's terrific! If you keep up the encouragement and answer any questions he/she may have about vaping as they go along...I'll bet that person will be your 1st success story. It IS a great feeling, isn't it, being excited about helping other people do something that could honestly change the rest of their lives, too?

Just to fill everyone in on my progress. I have been vaping for 4 weeks now and cigarette free for 3. I have learned a ton and am enjoying everything so far.

This week I took the plunge into rebuilding. For anyone out there that is intimated by this, don't be!!! It is easier than I expected and my Subox vapes better than it did with the premade coils.

I built a 1.2ohm coil with 28g kanthal that I wrapped around the blue screwdriver. It vapes great! I haven't gotten a dry hit yet, but when I do, it will only take a few minutes to rewick. This will also save a bunch of money because the occ coils were only lasting 4days.

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!

congrats on your first coil.

When you are ready to expand I highly recommend a coil jig.

This is the one I use.

$4.22 Vaping Coil Winding Jig Tool for Rebuildable Atomizers (Aluminum, Black) at m.FastTech.com

It cones with five different diameter rods from 1.5-3.5 mm.

You are ABSOLUTELY correct. Wrapping coils I'd not that hard or scary.

Just use caution and ohm meter in the beginning and you will be a pro in no time.

No way on earth I would go back to premade coils. The flavor is so much better.

The brsty way I have found to wick coildo is tight yet loosd enough to slide inside the coil.

When you are ready go grow a little more; I would suggest two things.

1. Get two or three RTAs that offer good flavors

I recommended the Goblin Mini, Silverplay Nano, Orchid, and Kayfun.

Others recommend Aromamizer, Crius, and others. Tgruy msy be fabulous but I have not used them.

I have used the Bellus, Billow V2 and others but don't recommend them. I find thrm lacking in flavor and the Bellus leaked juicd everywhere.

2. You may consider making your own ejuice.

Agree 1000%!

The reason is vaping is a complete replacement to smoking. Most stop smoking aids only replaces the nicotine.

Vaping gives nicotine, you feel the vapor in your lungzy and the muscle .memory of bringing the cigarette go the lips.

I tried everything but Chantix even hypnosis.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions!!! I am going to add a coil jig onto my next order. Almost everyone sells them so I will just add that to the cart.

Currently I am shopping for my next tank and mod. I need a backup besides my mech and dripper. I saw something for a Subox Mini Pro?? that has a Top Fill Subtank Mini and the Mod is 75w with TC. If that is real, and not vapor (no pun intended), that will probably be my next purchase.

I have looked into the RTAs that you have mentioned, but I am not quite ready to make that step. The things that I like about the Subtank mini is that it doesn't leak, is easy to build, and I can keep a couple factory coils around as quick spares, and it tastes great (with the RBA).

I have also looked into DIY juice, but I need to figure out what kind of flavors I like. I don't know if I have found my flavors yet.

@jjatl and anyone else who might be interested - VaporEngine.com has a great sale going on now. 60% off their regular SALE items' prices. I ordered several KangerTech Evod Double Starter Kits (for hopefully new future converts to vaping), for only $13.99 per kit. They also have LOTS of the mods at really good prices, too. I also found an online code to use for an additional 10% off! It's "allvape10". That may help some of you looking for "new vape toys". They also have free Shipping with $50 order, and the turnaround time from order to delivery is great.

My RTAs don't leak if they are wicked correctly even the Goblin Mini and Silverplay Nano. They have airflow right under the coils.

The way I wick them both is.

Tight in the coil but still able to slide in the coil. And have the tails go to the bottom of the juice wells.

The Kayfun and Orchid have narrow juice wells. On these just have the tails come to the juice wells.

Welcome jjatl ... you are definitely on your way:thumb: Best of luck to you in your vaping journey! Ginger

Congratulations and welcome to the forum! I too have been smoking for almost 20 years and vaping has helped me for the past 6 months to the point that I dread the cigarette smell! I do sneak one once in a while though for the memory lol

Hi there welcome to the forum, I'm new too and avoided a smoking habit by finding vaping. Hope we can be part of a great community.

Thanks for the encouragement!!!

Thanks for the tips! Those all seem like very popular RTAs. Would you be able to give me the quick run down on them? Which ones I should purchase and why? They seem to be quite different from each other. I realize I am asking a lot, but the options for all of this stuff is a bit overwhelming.
