Hey there guys! I'm a brand new vaper and just received my vape kit yesterday from GotVapes.com and I've got a few questions to ask.

I am using the Stardust Clear eGo cartomizer with a Genuine Joyetech eGo-T Upgrade 1000mah 510 battery along with the FLuX Nectar Premium Tobacco, Mountain Rift flavor in 36ml 70/30 PG/VG at 24mg nicotine.

What I've noticed so far is that the Mt. Rift juice doesn't taste at all like tobacco but closer to Diet Coke or Dr. Pepper. It also comes out very harsh on longer draws. The first thing I'm wondering is does it need to be diluted to have the actual tobacco flavoring? Has anyone else tried this juice and got a similar non-tobacco flavoring?

If it requires being diluted how much water would I add to the 15ml applicator bottle with the juice? Will it reduce the amount of nicotine I am receiving?

Another thing I am wondering is if vaping truly is a viable way to cut analogs out for good as I am finding my first day and a half vaping I still want to go out for the occasional cigarette (still on a pack I opened Wednesday night, usually smoke a pack a day).

Any help, suggestions or other info would be great!

Most of us eventually stop smoking cigarettes completely.

For some it happens immediately, for some it takes days, for some weeks, for some months.
What makes it easier is finding a setup that you like better than smoking.

You already have a good device, so you're well on your way.
Sounds like you now need the second part of the equation, which is a juice (or three) that you really like.

I suggest buying some sample sizes from various vendors to see what makes your boat float.

I'll let others advise on the liquid. I will say 36mg nic is high and might cause it to be harsh. and no liquid is going to taste like a cig. if I were going to dilute it I would use pg and/or vg, not water.

most of us here have quit smoking using ecigs.
some people just throw out the cigs right away. others, like me, gradually let go of the cigs. to get rid of the morning cig (a hard one for me) I delayed. the first day I made myself wait 10 min. before having the cig. I vaped that 10 min, then had the cig. next day I waited 15 min, and so on until it was 1 in the afternoon before i had my first cig of the day. so, really, any time I wanted a cig I vaped for a while first, then if I still wanted the cig, I had it (guilt free) within 2 weeks I went from 50+ cigs a day to 10, without pain. 1 month I was down to 2 cigs a day (!) (still shocking to me :))
good luck!

oh and ps I would suggest getting some unflavored liquid. it's bland and great to have when you hate all your liquids or can't taste them, etc :)

Hello Dread86 - I have been vaping for 4 years and still have the odd cigarette, although I don't find that they taste very good anymore. Sooo - from 2 packs a day down to maybe 2 smokes a day.
As far as the tobacco flavor - I think you can pretty much forget that. I have yet to find a juice that comes even remotely close. You will find that flavors you never dreamed of trying taste very good - for example I found that I like pomegranate, something that I would never normally try. Find a supplier and try some sample sizes of different flavors.
BTW - my all day/every day vape is Backwoods Brew Caramel Cappachino - nothing short of amazing IMHO :)

Welcome to ECF Dread. I don't know the juice you have. I do know that I have tried some tobacco flavors that made me wonder who the heck thought it tasted like tobacco. Hopefully someone who has tried it will add their thoughts in a bit. 24 mg nic will give it a good throat hit plus it's 70% PG which ups TH a bit more. I suspect that is why you find it harsh.

If you want to try diluting it do not use water. You need to use PG or VG. You can buy it unflavored and with no nic pretty cheap and you can get it with various levels of nic. I suggest VG as that will help reduce TH. Try adding a bit at first to a small quantity of juice, try it and go from there. Yes, if you mix in something with low or no nic, your resulting nic level will be lower. My opinion on diluting is that it is worth a try, but I doubt you will end up with something that you really like to vape.

I started vaping in April and after about a week or two I was totally off cigarettes. It was quite painless for me. You are pretty new to it all still, so give it a chance. There is also a lot to learn about vaping and ECF is a great place to get that from. I suggest you buy a few different juice flavors in nic levels of 12 and 18 mg in small quantities to see what you like. You can also get different PG/VG mixes. A lot of vendors sell in 10 ml bottles and some have trial deals.

Just remember that it's no big deal if you are still smoking cigs. You got started on the right track, and thats the important thing. It will come eventually.

Someone in this forum posted....its not the cigs you smoked, but the cigs you didn't smoke. This is a very true statement, and something new vaporers need to remember.

I'm not familiar with that particular e-juice vendor, but generally speaking many tobacco flavors need time to "steep". Steeping is allowing a mixture of e-juice contents time to meld together as one. The process can take anywhere from a couple of days to a week or to for the particular flavor to mature. That's not to say that you can't vape these flavors upon delivery, just be aware that allowing the juice to mature might improve the flavor.

24mg nicotine strength is about right for a new vapor who smoked a pack per day, in my opinion. I see no need to dilute the juice. Also, your first experience with vaping will be different from smoking. Smoke and vapor are two different entities. It took your body time to adjust to cigarette smoke, and it will take time to adjust to an e-cig's vapor. Most new vapors experience the harshness that you are experiencing; give it time, your experience will improve.

People's methodology to quit cigarettes via vaping varies from individual to individual. Some stop the cigs cold turkey when they start vaping. Some people allow themselves a very limited number of cigarettes while the majority of time they concentrate on vaping. Neither way is more successful than the other, as long as you are dedicated to stop.

What I did was vape as much as I wanted, which was quite regularly and frequently. I allowed myself about 4 cigarettes a day, trying to hold off as long as I could comfortably. If I desired a cigarette, I vaped more and harder. If that didn't relieve the desire, I allowed myself part of a cigarette. Over a couple of days I noticed the cigarettes to be less satisfying and just vaping harder relieved my perceived need for one. When my last pack of cigarettes was done, so was I with cigarettes...I never bought another pack. I actually preferred vaping to smoking.

Not sure how you inhaled your cigarettes, but with vaping slow deliberate inhales into your mouth as if you are sucking on a milkshake is recommended. Then inhale the vapor into your lungs as desired. When exhaling, allow at least some of the vapor to escape through your nose. This will allow you to better "taste" your juices flavors. Our sense of taste is closely related to our sense of smell. Recall how food tastes bland or muted when you have a stopped up nose; this is because the aroma of food is blocked from the nose.

Nicotine is absorbed from vapor differently than it is with cigarette smoke. Most nicotine vapor is absorbed in the mouth and throat, the reason being the difference in size of the molecules between smoke and vapor. Therefore, it is not necessary to inhale vapor into the lungs, only the mouth and throat.

Sorry for the long lecture. These are just some pearls of wisdom that I have accumulated over 8 months of vaping. :thumb:

You will give up cigs and it will happen! When I started vaping I didn't even intend to quit. I was only going to vape at home and in my car, but the reg cigs started to taste nasty! Its like you take a drag and you day Hey! This doesn't taste anything like peach or whatever your fave flavor is.

I did get some strange looks at work at first but now they are used to me! LOL If they start to get critical I just say hey mine tastes like peach ice cream, what does yours taste like? LOL

Also you don't have to deal with the nasty ashes or ashtrays anymore. My desk and car stay soooo much cleaner now. And with you not starting out with a e cig look alike it will be easier. Even being around other smokers doesn't bother me cause I know mine tastes a whole lot better then theres and I don't have the hacking cough they do!

Lots of good info already, I just wanted to say hi and welcome to the forum.

Everyone does have different experience of how fast/slow they quit smoking cigarettes. Mine was fast.I stopped smoking the day I got my e-cig kit. I did have cravings for a cigarette but just vaped instead because in my case I needed to quit fast. I had trouble breathing and was on 2 types of inhalers.I hated not being able to breathe. I am glad that vaping works for me and hope the same for anyone trying to quit smoking.

I am not new to vaping but I also did not have a good experience with that type of fluid. I would suggest trying another vendors fluid and see if you like it better. There are many good vendors listed on the site and the reviews are very helpfull. I was not going to post here because I have had nothing but great service from gotvapes but I felt trying different fluid may help you.
